Low Ash Primary
Weekly round up
23.1.26
Thank you for your support in what has been another busy, exciting week at Low Ash.
To start, I'd like to remind you that, at Low Ash, we are proud of our diverse and inclusive school community and are committed to ensuring that everyone feels safe and welcome. Recently, some parents have shared that they have felt uncomfortable in the playground due to behaviours that do not reflect our shared values. We would like to remind all parents and carers that tolerance, respect, and kindness are essential, and that discrimination of any sort will not be tolerated. As role models for our children, we ask all adults to treat one another with warmth, courtesy and respect so that our playground remains a positive space for all.
We are proud that, at Low Ash, we have 93 pupils who live in houses where more than one language is spoken. In total, 21 different languages are spoken!

Attendance update
Attendance rewards:
Well done to the 422 children who had 100% attendance this week. Once again, two lucky winners will have their names drawn out of a hat and take home a £5 Amazon voucher. Pictured below are a couple of lucky winners from previous weeks.
A reminder that, at the end of the half term, there will be a further prize draw. Pupils who have achieved 100% attendance for the half term will have their name entered into the draw 3 times, those who have above 96% attendance will have their name entered twice and those whose attendance has improved on the previous half term will have their name entered into the draw once. The prize at the end of each half term will be a £10 Amazon voucher. There will be one prize for EYFS, one prize for KS1, one prize for Lower KS2 and one prize for Upper KS2.
In addition to this, every week, the class with the highest attendance will earn a reward of an extra playtime (or indoor free time if that is their preference!).
Home visits
If your child is absent from school for three consecutive days, even if due to illness, a member of our safeguarding team will visit your home. This visit is a supportive measure designed to keep the lines of communication open between school and family, and to offer any help or guidance needed to make your child’s return to school as smooth as possible. Our priority is to ensure every pupil feels supported and confident to re-engage with their learning. The first home visits we have done have been very successful and, for those of you who have been visited, thank you for being so welcoming.
This week's school attendance is: 97% - a really great improvement!
This year's attendance to date is 95%.
Early Years & KS1 classes of the week are 1W & 2P with 99.4%.
KS2 class of the week is 4BY with 99.3%.
A reminder that, as a school, we are aiming for no less than 96% attendance.
School Car Park
As you know, the school car park is only for staff. We would love to have a car park which could accommodate parents but we simply do not have the room. The amount of parents / carers who are coming into the car park (either in their own cars or in taxis) is becoming a hazard. This week, there was a 'near miss'. Because of this we have a duty to take action. Over the next 3 weeks, we will be issuing parking passes to those parents / carers who have permission to park in the car park (blue badge holders etc) and then, following half term, the school gate will be manned and/or closed at certain times so people cannot enter. We are forewarning you of this now so, if you are someone who comes into the school car park a lot, this gives you time to consider what your alternatives will be. We will also be preventing taxis from coming into the car park. Thank you for your support in this.
Year 2 - visitor from the past!
Year 2 had a visitor from the 17th Century this week in the form of William Petty. The children learnt all sorts about the Great Fire of London in a fun and engaging way.
Rewards
As you will know, pupils can now choose alternative rewards instead of their bronze, silver and gold badges. Last week, Isla in Year 3, had earnt enough merits for her gold badge. Instead she chose to have a hot chocolate with Mrs Medhurst (and Mabel the school dog attended too!).
Pastoral lounge
We are in the process of turning the former KS1 'pod' (the room adjacent to the library) into a Pastoral Lounge. This will give a more comfortable space for children to meet with adults from the pastoral team to discuss their worries and concerns.
Free exhibition - Bradford Catheral
On the 22nd January, the Cathedral launched the World Reimagined Art Exhibition. This is comprised of ten globe sculptures created by pupils from Immanuel College and Bradford Forster Academy. The exhibition runs until the 26th February.
The globes showcase letters, art, and reflections on heritage, the environment, and global connection; blending English, geography, and visual arts, aiming to build empathy, intergenerational conversations, and climate awareness. The project forges links between UK schools and classrooms in Africa and the Caribbean.
“The Triangle of Unity Learning Programme invites young people to explore the lived experiences of elders in their own families, while engaging in Atlantic Triangle conversations rooted in empathy and justice. By bringing together heritage, climate change, and art, we aim to inspire a generation of changemakers and strengthen connections within and between communities.”
A free Triangle of Unity family event will be held on the 21st February, featuring steel band workshops and crafts. Please see www.bradfordcathedral.org.uk for more details.
Sporting update
Well done to the Under 11s Girls' Bench Ball teams this week. They took part in the Hanson Delta Ball competition. The girls did amazingly and should be extremely proud of themselves.
Online Safety Update - Roblox
I think we may have shared this before, but we know how popular this game is amongst pupils. Therefore, below, you will find a guide to support you in keeping your child safe when playing Roblox.
A reminder that all of our guides can be found on the online safety page of the website.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you all next week..
