MEREDITH COLLEGE MUSIC: INFORMATION AND OPPORTUNITIES
PRE-AUDITION WORKSHOP - FEBRUARY 1, 2025, 10am - 2pm: Any high school students or transfer students planning to audition for a college music program (at Meredith or any college/university) are welcome to register for our pre-audition workshop. (Note, this is rescheduled from the original date of Jan 11, 2025 due to inclement weather forecast). During this workshop, Meredith College Music Faculty will prepare students for auditions to college schools of music. The workshop will include tips, what to expect in the audition process, mini-lessons with one or more audition pieces, lunch, and time to share a selected piece in a mock audition. The $25 registration fee is due at the door and includes lunch, mini-lessons, and the opportunity to perform and receive comments. You may register here.
MUSIC MAJOR/MINOR FOR A DAY (MM4D): Your high school female students are invited to attend a class, meet current students and faculty, sit in an ensemble, receive a free sample lesson, and have the opportunity to ask questions while on campus. We also want to learn more about the students, their goals, and dreams for the future and how we can support them in achieving these. Students and a family member/guest can register to attend one of our MUSIC MAJOR/MINOR FOR A DAY (MM4D) visits during the 2024-25 academic year using this form. Both students and parents/guests will have activities planned for them throughout the day. Remaining MM4D dates scheduled this year are: Thursday, January 30, 2025; and Tuesday, March 18, 2025; and individual visits per arrangement with us.
AUDITIONS TO MEREDITH COLLEGE: High school senior young women interested in majoring or minoring in music are asked to complete our registration form and audition to be admitted to the program, which also provides the opportunity to be considered for one of the numerous scholarships that we have for music majors and minors. Remaining audition dates for this year are: January 25, 2025; February 7 and 8, 2025; March 1, 2025; or March 22, 2025. If none of these dates work for the student, we are able to arrange another date for a private audition. The application deadline for scholarships and admittance to the program is April 15, 2025. Please note that you must be admitted to both Meredith College as well as the Music Program at Meredith in order to Major or Minor in Music. I am happy to talk through the audition process with you or any interested students or families. Our faculty’s goal is to meet students where they are now and to help take them where they want to be to achieve their dreams!
ADMISSIONS AT MEREDITH: We encourage students to visit our admissions office to connect with an admissions counselor and to receive key information, including application deadlines, types of financial aid, and more. Students can sign up for an Admissions Tour, which can be done during weekdays or on Saturday open houses. We can also pair a weekday admissions tour with a music visit to include meeting with faculty, a free sample lesson (pending faculty availability), and audition if desired, while students are on site and upon prior arrangement.
STAYING CONNECTED: In addition to the Meredith Music website, we also encourage you to follow our department on social media (Instagram and Facebook) and please come visit any of our performances this year - all are free and open to the public! We will publicize performances at the beginning of the semester on the website and social media.
