A Message from Our Admin Team
Dear Shaw Heights Families,
As we close out January and look ahead to February, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible work happening at our school. Our CLDE team did an outstanding job supporting students during ACCESS testing, creating a positive and organized environment that helped students show their best work.
We are so proud of our students for their focus, perseverance, and effort during testing. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!
February brings new opportunities for learning, growth, and connection. We are excited to continue supporting our students as they reach new goals and make the most of every day at Shaw Heights.
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community.
Warm regards,
The Shaw Heights Admin Team
📚 Learning Spotlight
Our 8th graders are diving into The Hunger Games
In Literacy class with Mrs. Villa Hartman, our 8th grade students are deeply engaged in reading The Hunger Games through creative and thoughtful character analysis projects. Students analyzed key characters such as Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, Cinna, and Effie Trinket, exploring traits, strengths, challenges, values, and character growth. Through detailed illustrations, text evidence, and written reflections, students demonstrated strong comprehension, critical thinking, and creativity. These projects showcase not only their understanding of the novel, but also their ability to connect themes of courage, identity, and resilience to the characters’ journeys.
