CHHS Update

Dear Hylanders,

October 6, 2026: PTO Meeting

The Columbia Heights High School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is looking to gather a group of parents, teachers, and administrators at CHHS to meet monthly to address topics of concern such as homework load, family engagement, academic offerings, and more. We also aim to help organize at least one school fundraising event each school year in an effort to give back to teachers who may be in need of supplies or other classroom resources that may not be covered by the building's operating budget. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the high school — room 114. If you are interested in attending future meetings or just being kept in the loop about the PTO's work, email Chris Polley at ptochhs@gmail.com with your name and phone number. Thanks, and we hope to see you next week!

October 8, 2026: Flex Learning Day

On Thursday, October 8th, students will be working from home. It is a flex learning day, which means that students will be meeting with their teachers online. More information will be sent out later this week about student expectations and meeting times. Students will not come to the high school, and will be required to meet with teachers online.

October 9, 2026: No School For Students

No school for students. Our teachers and staff will be engaged in professional development.

October 15-16, 2026: No School

MEA week/weekend. Students do not have school on Thursday or Friday.

October 19, 2026: No Shots, No School:

As a reminder, if students vaccinations are not updated by October 19th, they will be sent home until they are in compliance. We have reached out to anyone who was still needing vaccinations, and/or the appropriate paperwork confirmation.

Minnesota law requires that students who are enrolled in public schools provide documentation of vaccinations for certain communicable diseases (or a legal exemption). Students must be current on their immunizations or have a legal exemption in order to be enrolled in school. Questions regarding immunizations can be directed to your student’s health office or the District Nurse at 763-528-4580.

Below is a link to our district website that has resources and more information:

October 21st, 2026: Picture Retakes

For any students who were either absent on the original picture day, or those who would like to retake a picture for purchase, Jostens will be at our school on October 21st. Students will be called down in alphabetical order.

October 28, 2026: BIPOC Family Advisory Group Meeting

Location: North Park School for Innovation.

Time: 5:30pm-7:00pm

We are excited to continue to build community, create positive change, and advocate for your child's education.

Educational Benefits Applications Due:

Important Information on Educational Benefits Applications

Educational Benefits Applications for School Year 2026-27 can be filled out online any time! Families who were directly certified should have received an approval letter.

If you received the approval letter, PLEASE look at the letter carefully and make sure ALL STUDENTS who are members of your household are listed on the letter. If anyone is missing from the household, please call Skylar Hatch at 763-528-4520 or email her at hatchs@colheights.k12.mn.us . It is very important that all students are listed and the school is correct for each of them. Any questions, can be directed to Skylar Hatch or Pam Haupt, Food Service Coordinator at 763-528-4527.

All households that were not directly certified will be receiving a postcard with Educational Benefits information and a guide on how to complete the application.

This is a very important annual process as the educational benefits applications need to be completed every school year. Thank you for your sense of urgency to get this done before the end of the month.

At the high school, this completed form may lead to either free or discounted enrollment in high school athletic or activity programs, AP testing fee waivers, and other discounted or free opportunities.

Estimadas familias Hylander:

Lugar: North Park School for Innovation
Hora: 5:30 p. m. a 7:00 p. m.
