Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Our teachers are looking forward to the upcoming Spring Conferences on March 25th and 26th.

Spring conferences are held on an “as needed” basis. If your child’s teacher would like to meet with you, they will be in contact to schedule a time. Of course, you are always welcome to request a conference with your child’s teacher as well.

Please plan to arrive on time, as conference schedules are tight and we have limited time available for each meeting.

Both days will be early dismissal at 11:40 a.m. Lunch will still be provided for students.

We appreciate your partnership and look forward to connecting with you.

Warmly,

Lisa Brozovich

School-Based Mobile Dental Clinic

Hello Maple Lawn families! On Wednesday, March 11th, the School-Based Mobile Dental Clinic is coming to MLE. This is a voluntary program organized by the Health Department to "increase dental access to every child by bringing quality, safe, convenient, and affordable preventative dental services into schools." Services include: screening, cleaning, sealants (if needed), fluoride treatments, oral hygiene instructions, and referral for follow up care (if needed). For those interested in participating, permission slips will be sent home next week, and need to be returned by Wednesday, March 4th.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Wakefield, MLE Health Tech.

STEM and Art Show

Thank you to everyone across the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District who joined us for such a memorable day of learning and connection. It was wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate creativity, innovation, and student voice.

The Character Trait of the Month is: Cooperation

Cooperation & The Tree of Choices

This month, our CharacterStrong focus is Cooperation — working together, following shared expectations, and solving problems respectfully. Recess is one of the most important places students practice cooperation in real time.

To support this, students use the Tree of Choices to help them pause, think, and make safe decisions — especially during high-energy moments.

When a problem happens, students are taught to:

  • Pause and calm their body

  • Think about their options

  • Choose a solution that keeps everyone safe

The goal is to stop small problems from becoming big ones.

At recess, this might look like asking for a “replay,” using words to solve a disagreement, walking away to cool down, or asking an adult for help before frustration turns physical.

How Families Can Support at Home

You can reinforce this by asking:

  • “What choices did you have?”

  • “Did your choice help solve the problem?”

  • “What could you try next time?”

When school and home use the same language, students build stronger skills in cooperation, self-control, and respectful problem-solving.

Partnership with Sumner Middle School's Random Acts of Kindness Club

Maple Lawn Huskies hosted members of the Sumner Middle School Kindness Club, who visited to read aloud to our primary classrooms as an act of service and kindness. It was especially fun to see so many former Huskies return to campus, now stepping into leadership roles as middle school students. We are so grateful to these Bobcats for modeling kindness, service, and leadership. They reminded us that small acts can make a big impact.
