PTA Weekly Update
September 16, 2024

October 14, 2025
Good morning Huskie Families,
We wrapped Anti-Bully Week up on Friday! A school-wide assembly kicked the week off, and spirit days supported our theme of inclusivity, respect, and kindness. We were also excited to see so many Spring Brook families at our Keller's Farmstand fundraiser this weekend. Thanks to all who participated!
Important notes for this week:
- The Charleston Wrap fall fundraiser is almost halfway done, and we are halfway to our goal! This is a fantastic opportunity to check a few items off your holiday shopping list (early!) while also helping raise funds for our school.
- Submissions for the PTA Art Reflections Program are due THIS Friday, October 17. This year’s theme is “I Belong.” All students are eligible to participate, encourage your kids to get creative!
- We are seeking volunteers for our Art Awareness program.
- If your family owns or is connected to a local business and is interested in sponsoring a Spring Brook event, please contact our Community Relations chair.
Keep reading for details on all of these, and other opportunities to get involved. And don't forget to check out our website - it's a one-stop-shop for all things Spring Brook.
Have a good week!
Charleston Wrap Fundraiser: Now Through 11/1
The Charleston Wrap fall fundraiser is almost halfway done, and we are halfway to our goal! The fundraiser will continue through November 1st. If you haven't had a chance to shop yet, there are 3 easy steps to help your child get started:
1. Register now as a participant at www.registercw.com using our school code (11280). All sales and payments are online; nothing to collect or turn in at school!
2. Invite your friends and family to support our cause! Share a link to our sale using text and email invitation tools. You can also share your link on social media!
3. Shop online and help us reach our goal! With over 2,500 gift ideas, there is something for everyone! Items sold will be tracked online for prizes, so no need to turn in prize coupons to teachers.
Contact Kate Kopp if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!
Reflections Art Program Submissions Due Friday 10/17
PTA Reflections is a great way to encourage your child's creativity outside of the classroom. Students are invited to reflect on the theme "I Belong!" and create an original work of art, literature, music, choreography, film and/or photography.
All Spring Brook participants will be celebrated at an awards breakfast in November. Sign up here to receive the entry form and more information on how to participate. Entries are due Friday, Oct. 17.
Community Relations
A Note from Our Community Relations Chair:
As the PTA looks for new ways to partner with the community to enrich the lives of our students, we are expanding our sponsorship program for events during the 2025-2026 school year.
If your family owns or is connected to a local business and is interested in sponsoring a Spring Brook event, please see the attached letter for more information or reach out to Ellen Muryan.
Upcoming Events
Next PTA Member Meeting on 10/30
The next PTA meeting will be held on Thursday, October 30 at 9:30 in the Multipurpose Room at Spring Brook. All members are invited to attend.
The 2025-2026 budget will be voted on at this meeting. If you cannot attend in person, a link to join via Google Meets will be shared soon.
Volunteer Opportunities
Calling All Art Awareness Volunteers!
Do you love art or love to help out in your child's classroom? We need parents to volunteer to teach Art Awareness lessons to your child's class. We provide everything you need to do the lesson, no experience necessary!
Volunteers pair up and teach the students about well-known artists and their works and then facilitate an art project inspired by the style once per school year. All teaching materials, training, and activities are provided for volunteers. The students always enjoy the lessons and will amaze you with their interpretation of the art presented.
Sign up for ONE spot only. You will self-schedule one lesson with your teacher in the semester you are assigned to. Please remember, teachers are making time for these extra lessons in their classrooms, so being flexible is very important!
Let's keep art flowing through our school!
Multicultural Day on 12/5 - Volunteers Needed!
Would you like to showcase your home country at this year’s Springbrook Annual Multicultural Day on December 5th?
We’re looking for parent volunteers to share their culture by hosting a table featuring a game, craft, traditional activity, dance, or other unique element from their country of origin. In past years, we’ve had wonderful participation, with countries such as Honduras, Korea, Venezuela, the Philippines, and Israel represented in the school gymnasium during the day.
Students are always excited to explore the displays, learn about new traditions, and gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures that make up our community.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to create heritage posters to celebrate their backgrounds. Poster submissions should be turned in before Thanksgiving break.
If you’re interested in showcasing a country or would like more details, please contact the event chair, Brea Khalid, at brea.khalid@outlook.com.
We look forward to another amazing Multicultural Day — thank you for helping make it a memorable event for our students!
