Dear BCJ Families π«π€π
We hope you and your family enjoyed a restful and joyful winter break. As we welcome students back to school tomorrow, Tuesday, January 6, we want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. Your encouragement at home and collaboration with our school make a meaningful difference in your childβs learning and growth.
Our Eagles worked hard during the first half of the school year, and we are excited to begin this next chapter together. π¦ β¨ As we return, we look forward to re-establishing routines, building on student progress, and continuing to nurture a safe, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.

BCJ Strong. Attendance Matters. π¦
At Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School (BCJ), we are working together to reach our schoolwide attendance goal of 95% proportional attendance. We need your partnership to make this happen.
β° What Is Proportional Attendance?
π Proportional attendance measures the amount of time students are actually present at school each day.
β±οΈ Arriving after 8:45 a.m.
β±οΈ Leaving before 3:40 p.m.
Even a few missed minutes can reduce a studentβs instructional time and impact our overall attendance. The state of Missouri tracks the percentage of time students are in school each day, so every minute matters.
π« School Day Expectations
π£ Doors Open: 8:30 a.m. (Breakfast is available)
π Instruction Begins: 8:45 a.m.
π Dismissal: 3:40 p.m.
Students are expected to attend school for the full instructional day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Arriving on time and staying for the full day ensures students receive all instruction and support.
π Why Attendance Matters
βοΈ Maximizes learning time
βοΈ Supports academic success
βοΈ Demonstrates school improvement
βοΈ Helps BCJ meet state expectations
Meeting our attendance goal is one of the most effective ways to show growth and success as a school community.
Thank you for helping BCJ make every minute count. Together, we can ensure our students are present, prepared, and ready to learn each day.
π¦· Dental Safari at BCJπ¦·
Dental Safari, a district-approved provider will be onsite at Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School on January 7 - 8, 2026, providing dental exams and cleanings for our students.
π© Parent Action Needed:
Parents and guardians must complete the electronic consent form that was sent in advance for your child to receive services. Only students with completed electronic consent forms will be seen.
Please be sure to submit the form as soon as possible to ensure your childβs participation.
Students will be seen during the school day and returned to class promptly.
