Dear BCJ Families πŸ«πŸ–€πŸ’›

We hope you and your family enjoyed a restful and joyful winter break. As we welcome students back to school tomorrow, Tuesday, January 6, we want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. Your encouragement at home and collaboration with our school make a meaningful difference in your child’s learning and growth.

Our Eagles worked hard during the first half of the school year, and we are excited to begin this next chapter together. πŸ¦…βœ¨ As we return, we look forward to re-establishing routines, building on student progress, and continuing to nurture a safe, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.

Please remember to check backpacks and school communications regularly for important updates.

πŸ¦… BCJ Strong. Attendance Matters. πŸ¦… πŸ¦… BCJ Strong. Attendance Matters. πŸ¦…

At Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School (BCJ), we are working together to reach our schoolwide attendance goal of 95% proportional attendance. We need your partnership to make this happen.

⏰ What Is Proportional Attendance?

πŸ“Š Proportional attendance measures the amount of time students are actually present at school each day.

⏱️ Arriving after 8:45 a.m.
⏱️ Leaving before 3:40 p.m.

Even a few missed minutes can reduce a student’s instructional time and impact our overall attendance. The state of Missouri tracks the percentage of time students are in school each day, so every minute matters.

🏫 School Day Expectations

πŸ•£ Doors Open: 8:30 a.m. (Breakfast is available)
πŸ“š Instruction Begins: 8:45 a.m.
πŸ•’ Dismissal: 3:40 p.m.

Students are expected to attend school for the full instructional day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Arriving on time and staying for the full day ensures students receive all instruction and support.

🌟 Why Attendance Matters

βœ”οΈ Maximizes learning time
βœ”οΈ Supports academic success
βœ”οΈ Demonstrates school improvement
βœ”οΈ Helps BCJ meet state expectations

Meeting our attendance goal is one of the most effective ways to show growth and success as a school community.

Thank you for helping BCJ make every minute count. Together, we can ensure our students are present, prepared, and ready to learn each day.
