Important Parent Pick-Up Change

Pick-Up Update: Thank you for your attention to the message below regarding afternoon pick-up. All remaining procedures will stay the same. Closing the small parking lot may be a temporary measure while we work closely with our safety officers to develop a more efficient plan that prioritizes the safety of students, families, and staff. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Dear Tomahawk Families,

We are reaching out to share an important change to our afternoon parent pickup procedures.

Despite repeated reminders not to form a line into the small parking lot near the track during dismissal, we continue to experience significant congestion in this area. This week, traffic was nearly backed up into the main road, creating a serious safety concern for our students, staff, and families. Once students are dismissed, cars are pulling out in front of buses all while parents are also trying to walk across the parking lot with their student.

In addition to parent pickup traffic, we have staff members who need to enter and exit the parking lot, delivery drivers arriving throughout the afternoon, and bus drivers navigating the area. The volume of vehicles attempting to form a pickup line in the small lot is creating major safety concerns for everyone involved.

Effective immediately, the small parking lot near the track will be closed during parent pickup. Families will need to park in a marked parking space and walk to Door #11 to pick up their child.

We will have additional staff outside to assist with traffic control and to help families safely cross the parking lot.

Our top priority is the safety of our students and school community. We believe this new procedure will help alleviate congestion and reduce risk during dismissal.
