Bernice Young Elementary School Week of 10/26
- First grade finished their interim testing and we will start Kinder testing on Monday! Students will take literacy and math interims. You can log in and see their scores using the ATLAS parent portal code that you received during conferences. (Please allow a few days for the scores to be published in the portal). Interims test all of the grade level standards so students will be presented with information they have not mastered yet. Testing dates: 1st grade: 10/22 and 10/23, Kinder: 10/26 and 10/27, and 2nd: 11/3 and 11/5
- Flu shots are Monday for those students that signed up in advance.
- Each school year we have a Yearbook. If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook, don't delay. Prices are cheaper now and increase next semester.
- There is another race for those that signed up for the Wild Dog Races. It will be Wednesday at Harber.

A Message from Ms. Brown
Hello parents of BYE students. My name is Pamela Brown, I will be taking the counselor, Mrs. Nelson's place while she is on maternity leave. If you have questions or concerns about your child, please reach out to me. Just call the school office and they will notify me. I look forward to getting to know the students and parents. Color Run and Class Parties
We will have our Color Run and Class Parties on October 30th. Grade levels will alternate throughout the day. All visitors are scanned through the raptor system when visiting our school. If you would like to attend The Color Run or the class party, please complete this form so that we can have your visitor sticker ready for you. If you have never had your ID scanned in the office, stop by and have it scanned before October 30th. Thanks you.
For those that turned in flu shot forms, they will be on Monday, October 26th.

Update on the Mini Wild Dog Races
We have another race this week. Please make sure you signed up for the races in advance. One registration was for all three races. This was in addition to the Running Club.
10/21: George Junior High location was a success!!! So many students attended and did so well!
10/28: Har-Ber...fun run with shortened distances and we encourage costumes
11/11: George...City Championship...combined races (k-1 boys and girls same time, etc).

Veteran's Day- Planning Ahead
Veterans Day is coming soon. Our second graders will be performing for Veterans Day this year. We are planning to add a small slideshow to our performance. If there is a veteran or active military member in your child's life, please send a picture to younginfo@sdale.org. Include the veteran's name and student's name. All photos need to be sent in by Sunday, November 8. We will include all slides from last year if the student still attends Young Elementary. If there are changes to that slide, please let us know. You are invited to attend The Veterans Day program on Tuesday, November 10th at 6:00PM. All Veterans are welcome!

The happy birthday will be displayed during your child’s birthday week for $10. Complete the digital form AND then pay and the Happy Birthday message will be displayed.
The earlier, the better! Sign up now and we'll have your child's name on the calendar & their Happy Birthday message ready to go.
We are not here over long breaks or on the weekend. Please enter birthdays in advance if you want them displayed on your child's special day.
Please note: Birthday treats may NOT be brought to school to share with classmates. We invite families to celebrate their child with a birthday message on our outdoor digital sign instead!
