Welcome back! Hope you were able to get out to enjoy Alaska and time with family and friends this summer. The staff have been actively preparing for student arrival - we are eager to meet your children in person!
We have a few new staff members to our Turnagian learning community that I’d like to introduce:
Meredith Spears has joined our Front Office Team as our School Secretary
Madeline Ramuglia & Reilly Plumhoff are joining our Kindergarten Neighborhood Team
Alexandria (Richey) Montgomery is joining our first grade Neighborhood Team
Sarah Yagodin is our Long Term Substitute for Neighborhood second grade
Rickey Mason is joining our third grade Neighborhood Team
Zan Zoske is joining our Special Education Team
Craig Moyer is our new Ignite Teacher
Kylie Judd is our new Speech Pathologist
Renee Meaux will be partnering with Danny deGuzman in our PE department
We look forward to seeing you all on August 13th from 3:00-4:00 pm for our Back to School Open House event. Class lists will be posted, and the building open for you to visit and meet our fabulous staff. When visiting, please consider joining our active PTA and MIR parent groups who continue to support our community throughout the year. They will be available to answer any questions and provide sign up information.
Our 2025 Climate and Connectedness Survey results from our 3-5 grade students spotlighted that 91% feel safe at school, and 97% safe in their classrooms. We will continue to practice emergency drill procedures so we will be prepared in the event of an unexpected situation. On Thursday, September 4 at 12:15 pm, we will be practicing a lockdown drill. The purpose of this drill is to practice staying safe in case there is a dangerous situation inside of our building. Staff will announce that we are having this drill to students ahead of time and prepare students on what they will be doing. It is our goal to practice and discuss the drills appropriately to the different age groups. Please be assured that drills will be conducted in a calm and methodical manner. As always, please reach out with questions or concerns.
