Estimadas familias,

Espero que todos estén bien y hayan tenido una buena semana. Hemos tenido una buena semana en la escuela ya que hemos entrado en el mes de mayo y estamos enfoque en nuestro tema de “Coraje”. Nuestros estudiantes Lion en los grados 3-5 han demostrado mucho coraje esta semana al tomar su examen estatal en Artes del Lenguaje Inglés. Estas pruebas miden las habilidades de los estudiantes en lectura y escritura y fue inspirador ver cómo los estudiantes perseverado a través de estas tareas desafiantes. La próxima semana, nuestros estudiantes en los grados 3-5 tomarán su evaluación estatal de Matemáticas.

Mirando hacia la próxima semana, estaremos celebrando a nuestros maestros y personal para la Semana de Apreciación de Maestros/Personal. Dear Families,

I hope you all are well and have had a good week. We have had a good week at school as we have entered the month of May and are focusing on our theme of “Courage”. Our Lion students in grades 3-5 have shown a lot of courage this week as they took their state test in English Language Arts. These tests measure student skills in reading and writing and it was inspiring seeing how students persevered through these challenging tasks. Next week our students in grades 3-5 will be taking their state Math assessment.

Looking ahead to next week, we will be celebrating our teachers and staff for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Please see the announcement below regarding this week and how you can participate in supporting our teachers next week. May 8th- May 12th is Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week! Every year we provide food for the staff to share our gratitude for their ongoing and heartfelt contribution to the education and thriving of our students.

Food each day gives them time together that they don't always get during their busy schedules.

We will be feeding around 60-70 people and have found that when 8-12 people sign up for an item each day it tends to be enough to feed everyone.

Drop off in Staff Lounge which is located in the cafeteria next to the kitchen.

Monday -Breakfast (breakfast casseroles, drinks, yogurt/granola, muffins, bagels...) drop off by 7:15am

Tuesday -Sweet treats. Drop off anytime before 10:30am

Wednesday - Lunch (Main dishes, sides, drinks...) drop off by 10:30am

Thursday - Covered by James John

Friday - Mexican/Latin American almuerzo/lunch sponsored by Familias Latinas.

Del 8 al 12 de mayo es la semana de reconocimiento del personal y los maestros!

Todos los años proporcionamos alimentos para que el personal comparta nuestra gratitud por su continua y sincera contribución a la educación y la prosperidad de nuestros estudiantes.

La comida todos los días les da tiempo juntos que no siempre tienen durante sus apretadas agendas.

Estaremos alimentando alrededor de 60-70 personas y hemos encontrado que cuando 8-12 personas se inscriben para un artículo cada día tiende a ser suficiente para alimentar a todos.

Entrega en el Staff Lounge que se encuentra en la cafetería al lado de la cocina.

Lunes -Desayuno (guisos de desayuno, bebidas, yogur/granola, muffins, bagels...) entrega a las 7:15 a.m.

Martes: Pan dulces y mas. Entrega en cualquier momento antes de las 10:30 a.m.

Miércoles - Almuerzo (Platos principales, guarniciones, bebidas...) entrega a las 10:30 a.m.

Jueves - James John lo cubrira.

Viernes: las familias latinas patrocinan el almuerzo. Entrega a las 10:30am

To assist students to perform their best on these assessments, we encourage students to get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast and arrive on time to school. These assessments are rigorous, aligned to the Common Core Standards and we have been practicing to ensure students feel comfortable taking them and can apply what they have been learning. If you have any questions about these assessments, please contact your child's teacher or the school office.

Our school will be participating in a district-wide opportunity for reflection called the Fidelity of Implementation Tool (FIT) Assessment on May 10th of next week. The FIT is a tool that measures the extent to which a school implements many of the systems and practices that have been identified as critical to equitable and inclusive schools that ensure high levels of learning for all students.

During the FIT process, two support staff from the district will spend the day with us, talking to a variety of people in the school community to get an understanding of our practices. Family and community members are invited to participate in a conversation with the district staff in order to respond to predetermined questions that are asked as part of the assessment.

We will use the data we collect from this process to inform our School Continuous Improvement Plan and other work at the building level. The district will look at district-wide data to highlight areas for further intentional support.

Nuestra escuela pronto participará en una oportunidad de reflexión para todo el distrito llamada Instrumento de evaluación de la fidelidad de implementación (FIT, por sus siglas en inglés) el 10th de mayo. FIT es un instrumento que mide el grado en que una escuela implementa varios de los sistemas y prácticas que han sido identificadas como elementos críticos de las escuelas equitativas e inclusivas que aseguran un alto nivel de aprendizaje para todos los estudiantes.

Dos miembros del personal de apoyo del distrito pasarán el día con nosotros para el FIT, hablando con una variedad de personas en la comunidad escolar para adquirir un entendimiento de nuestras prácticas.
