Greetings Bruin families-

We were so happy to see so many families join us for the Bruin Way Awards on Thursday, February 27th! We love every opportunity to celebrate our students’ accomplishments, and your support makes these moments even more special. On behalf of the Bear Creek Administration, we would like to extend a heartfelt apology to those students and families who were impacted by the oversight of their recognition during the cremeony. We are reflecting upon our current practice in preparing for these events and look to improve our process for the future to ensure all students and their accomplishments are celebrated.

Looking ahead, we have some exciting events coming up this week:

Staff Members of the Week are Mr. Joshua Simpson and Mrs. Phuong Nguyen

Mr. Josh Simpson - is one of our amazing custodians here at BC. He works tirelessly to ensure that the campus is clean. You can see Josh on any day picking up trash in the quad and cafeteria areas. He is always pleasant and never meets a stranger. Mr. Josh takes pride in the way the BC campus and community are represented. Our school's situation wouldn't be possible without this dude.

Mrs. Phuong Nguyen - because of their exceptional dedication to student success. They consistently go above and beyond by offering extra help sessions, creating engaging lessons, and fostering a positive learning environment. Their ability to make complex math concepts accessible to all students is truly remarkable. Their enthusiasm for math inspires students to develop a love for the subject, and they are always willing to collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.

Applications Accepted February 24 to March 7, 2025

STOCKTON, Calif. – The City of Stockton will begin accepting applications for the Youth Employment Summer Success (Y.E.S.S.) Program on February 24, 2025. Details and information are available at www.stocktonca.gov/YESSProgram. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 7, 2025. Students hired for available positions must be available to work from June 2, 2025, through July 10, 2025. Apply early! Space is limited.

The Y.E.S.S. Program, which is funded through the State of California Youth Service Corps, will provide over one hundred (100) youth jobs for students ages 16-19 who live in the city of Stockton. During this 6-week summer employment program, local youth will earn $23 per hour, experience a formal workplace setting, build their skills, and raise their awareness of public sector career pathways.

In addition to work experience, students will participate in workshops that focus on counseling, mental wellness, career readiness mentoring, and personal development. These supportive services enhance the overall work experience and help participants overcome employment barriers normally experienced when employed for the first time.

An informational webinar will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Registration is required to participate in the webinar. Visit www.stocktonca.gov/YESSProgram to access the registration link.

What Is FAFSA®?

Financial Aid Resources
The FAFSA and CADAA are scheduled to open on December 1, 2024 for the 2025-26 academic year. The delay from the customary October 1 opening day is to allow the US Department of Education time to perform beta testing and eliminate issues.

Seniors and Parents -

2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) or CA Dream Act Application(CADDA) is OPEN! Do not delay and fill it out today!

All Seniors are required to fill out one of the applications. Don't miss out, Priority Deadline is March 3, 2025.

In California, completing either a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or a CADAA (California Dream Act Application) is required by law for all graduating high school seniors, meaning it is mandatory to submit one of these applications to the state unless a formal opt-out waiver is filed; this requirement is enforced through state legislation, specifically the California Education Code Section 51225.7.

Please use the resources below to learn more about FAFSA or CADDA and what form would be best for you.

Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department

Dear Lodi USD Parent/Guardians,

Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support. Your child may be taking one or more of the following:

  • California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
  • English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

To see the full information on the above assessments, please visit our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department website. Please select the Annual Notification of Testing, 2024-2025 link.
