NJSLA Testing: Grades 3-5
Students in grades 3-5 will participate in NJSLA testing from May 5-16. We truly appreciate your support as we finalize the logistical details to ensure a smooth testing process.
Please review these important reminders in preparation for state testing:
Chromebooks must be charged each night and brought to school each morning.
Students may not have cell phones, smart watches, or any other electronic communication devices during testing. If your child brings one of these items to school, it will need to be turned completely off (not silent) and put away during testing.
Students are required to use headphones. Please make sure your child has a working pair of headphones in school.
Please make every effort to ensure that your child/ren arrives to school on time. Students who arrive late will not be permitted to enter testing rooms once the sessions are started. They will have to sit in an alternate location and take the test on a make up day.
Ensure students eat breakfast and get a good night’s sleep.
Designate an evening when your child signs out of his/her Chromebook while charging to ensure it will receive the system updates required for testing.
2025-2026 Class Placement Survey
During the month of May, teachers, support staff and I will begin the process of placing students into classrooms for the 2025-2026 school year. We recognize that thoughtful placement is essential to support each child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
When developing class placements, our goal is to create diverse, balanced classrooms by considering students’ academic strengths, social-emotional development, leadership qualities, learning styles, behavioral dynamics, and peer relationships. Rather than matching students with specific teachers, we focus on forming well-rounded groups, as staffing assignments may change. Thoughts and feedback from your child’s current teachers, input from support staff and specialists, principal observations, and the information you choose to provide are all considered during this process.
The purpose of the class placement survey is to provide you with an opportunity to share any information that may help us in the placement process. Please present pertinent information about your child and describe the learning environment you think will maximize your child’s success during the upcoming school year. Completing this survey is not required. Please note that requests for specific teachers will not be considered, and forms that list a teacher’s name will not be used in the placement process.
If you have more than one child at Woodcrest, please complete a separate survey for each child. The survey will remain open until 11:59pm on April 30, 2025. Requests received after this date will not be considered. Separate email feedback will not be considered in the planning process.
We appreciate your trust in our team to make decisions with every child’s best interest in mind. Our team puts a significant amount of thought and consideration into developing placements in order to ensure a positive and enriching experience for all Woodcrest students.
Sincerely,
Alison McCartney
Safety Reminders
The front parking lot and side streets are very busy at arrival and dismissal. In order to ensure our students' safety, please do the following.
- Wait to drop students off at the sidewalk during arrival. Many students are parking and walking across the parking lot. If you must park and walk over, please use the cross walk by the cones.
- Follow the parking signs on neighborhood streets. Parking on the wonrg side of the street can make it difficult for students to cross safely.
- The parking lot is closed at dismissal. Please do not move cars during dismissal until the cones are removed at the end of the driveway.
