Conway Catch-Up
April 11, 2022
Hi Conway #OneFamily!
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Blessings during Holy Week for our families who are Christian. Here is some quick information for the week:
Information for the week:
- Celebrate Diversity Night / Multicultural Night: We would LOVE for your family to share their culture, their traditions, their customs. Everyone has culture, even people who are from Mars, PA like me :) Click on this form to see how your family can participate in this amazing event where we can all learn about each other! We really want kiddos to join in the fashion show! Kiddos can wear many of the beautiful clothes they wore this past week for spirit week!
- Conway Wall of Heroes for our Military Families: We would love to have your family honored on our wall of heroes. Click HERE for details.
- Purple Up Day: This is Month of the Military Child and to celebrate our military families and show them our love and appreciation, we are going to wear purple on April 14th. Why purple you ask......when you take all of the colors of the military and combine them, they make purple! So, bust out that purple shirt on April 20th (not the 14th like I originally said last week)and show our military families how grateful we are for them.
- Students in 3rd - 5th Grade: We will be asking that all students in 3rd - 5th grade bring their computers back by April 25th to have them cleaned up and readied for the upcoming SOLs. They will stay at Conway until SOLs are complete.
- Whole classroom snacks: Due to a variety of reasons, SCPS will not be having whole classroom snacks return back to the classroom, even after Covid is gone. Parents are most welcome to send in items to celebrate their child's birthday, but it just cannot be edible. Ie. pencils, erasers, stickers. If you have any questions, just reach out and I can explain it in more depth.
- Leaders: As the weather warms, typically poor choices begin to increase as well. Kiddos are a little more tired, a little more irritable, and a little less tolerant from being together for so many months. Please continue to give your kiddos pep talks about good choices when they are on the bus, in the classroom, and anywhere around school. Some things we begin to see are: roasting others, solving conflicts the wrong way, tech misuse, and not being kind to others. Phones: Please remind them they are not allowed to have their phones on them while at school at any time and the phone must be turned off. They are allowed to listen to music on the bus with headphones, but are not allowed to share their screen with any other child. We tell our kiddos all the time that it is hard to be a leader of great things sometimes when we don't feel like it and we all make mistakes. With your encouragement and check-ins and our encouragement and motivation, we know our kiddos will finish the year with greatness. Thanks for your help.
Happy Easter to our Christian families!
Have a great week #OneFamily!
JR :)
