SCHOOLOGY TIP OF THE WEEK
When students move from one section to another, instructors and system administrators may need to recover their grades from the previous section and move them to the new one. Click Here to see how to Recover and Move Student Grades
Google Meet Rooms
Setting up office hours or small groups? Direct Instruction through Google Meet? We have a preferred method that will give you better control of when the Meet is open and when you close it! Take a look at the following instruction sheet or watch the video to find out how. This will eliminate students "hanging out" when you aren't in the Meet room, show you how to remove a student, and use the same nickname for your Meets so you don't have to create a new code every time you want your students to meet.
USE IT AS A WEBCAM
All you need for hybrid teaching is your document camera, laptop or desktop, and videoconferencing software (Google Meet Rooms)
USE IT AS A TEACHING WEBCAM
Tilt the camera lens toward you so students can see what you are showing or teaching on the Promethean Board, whiteboard, etc.
USE IT TO PRESENT TEACHING MATERIALS
Tilt the camera lens down so students can see what you are annotating or demonstrating under the camera lens.
ONLINE WHITEBOARD TOOLS
There are some fantastic online whiteboard tools for both face to face learning and remote learning.
A.The simplest is Chrome Canvas found at https://canvas.apps.chrome/
Directions on how to use here.
B. Another great one that you can push out to students to also practice on their own whiteboard is Whiteboard.fi
1. Go to Whiteboard.fi and click "New Class."
2. Name your class and it will create a unique URL.
3. Give the URL to your students. You can paste the URL in the chat box in Google Meet or add it to Schoology.
4. Students open the URL and enter a screen name.
5. Students draw on their whiteboards. Their drawings appear on your screen as well as their own.
6. When a students are done with their drawings they exit the room.
7. You can close the room at any time and students won't be able to access it again.
* You can place an image on the whiteboard and save all the students whiteboards as a PDF
C. The whiteboard in Schoology is another with lots of features.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TCCA
We are looking for a couple more volunteers for this year's TCCA virtual conference. This year you will be able to avoid the traffic, the lines, and all of that walking that is usually required.
We are seeking volunteers that will be co-hosting our virtual sessions. You will stay inside the virtual room for the day and help the host gather audience questions and pose them to the presenter.
If you choose to be a YouTube monitor, you will watch the YouTube presentation and let us know if there are audio or video challenges.
We will provide you with a T-shirt and a volunteer certificate. Unfortunately, you will have to provide your own lunch this year. Click Here to register as a volunteer.
LAST CALL FOR T-SHIRTS
Last call for you to be able to get one of our highly sought-after 10th Anniversary #TCCA2020 shirts. The official cut off date will be 9/11/20. Don't miss out: http://bit.ly/tccafocus
Schoology Virtual Learning Resources
Click Here to join the Middle School Virtual Learning Group
If you haven't joined already, that is where you can access all the Resources from the training sessions that have been presented (last year during virtual learning and Aldine LIVE sessions in July). We will continue to add materials to this Schoology group for teachers to access.
*This group is for Aldine staff only, please do not share this group code/link with parents or students.
