Dear Lockland Schools Families and Community,

It is with great pride and gratitude that I share exciting news about the progress our district has made. Lockland Local Schools has cause for celebration after making remarkable strides on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s annual state report card. In just one year, our district improved from 2-Stars to 3-Stars - a milestone that reflects the hard work and dedication of so many.

This 3-Star rating shows that our schools are meeting state standards, a first since the introduction of the star rating system. Even more inspiring, we earned 4-Stars in Career and College Readiness, with nearly 83 percent of Lockland High School students identified as prepared for opportunities after graduation.

I want to take this moment to acknowledge the collective effort behind these gains. Our students, families, community members, teachers, and staff have all played a vital role in achieving this success. The development and implementation of our Student Wellness Department, the addition of nearly three dozen educational partners, and the unwavering commitment of our team to the growth of every child; these are the foundations of our progress.

As Superintendent, I am deeply grateful for the dedication and innovation happening across our district. From our focus on attendance through supportive, family-centered approaches, to the expansion of College Credit Plus courses and industry-recognized credentials, to the high-quality instructional materials now in the hands of our teachers, every initiative has been designed with one goal in mind: equipping our students to thrive.

Our Student Wellness Department, led by Director Jenny Bole, continues to ensure that students and families have access to the resources they need, whether in academics, mental health, or overall well-being. By growing partnerships with organizations such as Catalyst Counseling, The Healthcare Connection, and Hamilton County ESC, we have been able to expand wraparound services and strengthen the support network for our community.

Behind every number, every star, and every measure of progress are the people who make Lockland a special place - our students, families, staff, and community members. Together, we are living our mission to Equip, Engage, and Motivate our students to achieve and succeed.

Thank you for your continued support of Lockland Local Schools. This achievement is only the beginning, and I look forward to building on this momentum in the months and years ahead.

Sincerely,

Bob Longworth, Superintendent

October Lockland Annex News October Lockland Annex News

September’s Meet the Teacher night bubbled over with success. It was well attended by our incoming students and their families. Families were greeted with hot dogs, snacks and drinks from the Metanoia Center. Returning students loved seeing their former teachers and meeting their new teachers.

Book Donation from Lockland PD

Lockland Elementary would like to thank the Lockland Local Police Department for donating 300 books to our students again this year. The Police department works through a group called “Starfish Assignment.” This group then funds a program called “Books and Badges.” Through this program, they are able to ensure all participating classrooms have enough books to distribute to every student in the classrooms.

Metanoia Center Tutoring Returns

The Metanoia Center (MC) will partner with the elementary school again this year in tutoring our young learners in the areas of reading and math. The MC is eager to begin and plans to be up and running before the end of the month. The volunteers at the center will work with 2nd and 3rd graders during first semester and add in first graders for 2nd semester. The Center has set an expected goal of being able to service between 22-24 kids. Students will be selected based on assessment data and teacher recommendations.

October 23rd will be the Curriculum Night for math and literacy at the Annex. It will run from 5:30 to 7:00. Students and their families will traverse different areas of the school to learn about both our reading and math programs. We will have a Pirate theme and students will be going home with some “treasure.” All students must be accompanied by an adult.

Volleyball

Coaches Tracey and Sara are proud to recognize the volleyball team for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication. This season has not been without its challenges, as the team has been without a home gym and has had to travel to Princeton for practice time. Despite these obstacles, the players have remained committed, focused, and determined to improve each day.

Their efforts were rewarded in an exciting five-set victory over North College Hill, a win that highlights their growth, resilience, and teamwork. We commend the team not only for their success on the court, but also for the way they have represented the school with pride and determination.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone in our FIRST HOME GAME and SENIOR NIGHT on October 1st. We will host another HOME GAME, Friday October 3rd. Come fill our stands for our girls!
