The Weekly Highlander
Volume #30
A Message from the Principal
Dear Highlander Families:
We are just one week away from starting state testing, and our students and teachers are ready to go. CAASPP Testing begins on Monday, April 28th, and concludes on Tuesday, May 6th. Students will be testing in their Core and Math classes, and 8th graders will be testing in their science classes. Testing blocks will be the first few hours of each day, and we will be unable to interrupt testing sessions to release students from school. A detailed schedule is linked in this newsletter; please limit absences and appointments during this time to minimize disruption to the school environment.
On Monday, we will be holding our fourth and final School Site Council meeting of the year at 3 pm in the library. Please see the AGNEDA, everyone is welcome to attend. Please consider supporting Hewes Middle School by going to Chick-fil-A for dinner on Tuesday and sharing the restaurant fundraiser flyer found below; 20% of sales go back to Hewes. If you can, please drop off items to Stock the Lounge for testing week. A list of individually wrapped snacks is also in the newsletter.
The deadline for 8th graders to sign up for promotion speech tryouts is Monday. Students must talk to their core teacher to sign up. The deadline for the TUPE poster contest is on Thursday, April 24th. Details of what to include and how to submit artwork are in the flyer in this newsletter.
Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

You’ve quickly become an essential part of the front office team, and we are so grateful for all that you do. Your dedication and commitment to our school are a big part of what makes Hewes such a special place to be. We are truly lucky to have you at Hewes!
STOCK THE TEACHER'S LOUNGE
To keep our teaching and support staff going during the week of CAASPP testing we would like to have additional goodies in the staff lounge. If you are able to donate any individually packaged snacks or drinks, it would be very much appreciated. All donations can be dropped off in the front office until Friday, April 25th.
