Principal's Message
Hello,
We are coming up on the last week of school for the 2025-26 school year! I truly appreciate the students, staff, parents, and community members of the City Schools of Decatur. I want to give a special shoutout to Ms. Gonzalez’s 8th period class as they took me on a walking tour of the City of Decatur. The students educated their peers on the history of Decatur including the arrest of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Trinity High School Football State Championship, the John Lewis Statue, and Beacon Hill. Our teachers and students are truly amazing and I am honored to be a part of their community.
Finally, I want to thank the PTSA, SGA, and Community in Schools for their support during Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers were celebrated and we all feel truly loved by our stakeholders.
Sincerely,
Duane Sprull, Ed.D.

🎥 Hollywood Comes to Decatur: A Masterclass with Rodney Taylor
The AV Tech and Film class along with the IB Film class hosted Rodney Taylor last week, member of the American Society of Cinematographers. Rodney Taylor has worked on both independent film as well as feature films and acclaimed television work on HBO and Starz. Rodney shared stories from his 30-year plus career and students got to ask questions about his creative process and what it's like working in the film industry and collaboratively with others. Thanks so much to Ben Skillman for organizing the event and Rodney Taylor for sharing his time and experience with our students.
🍎 Celebrating Our Future Educators!
Our future educators in the Early Childhood Education and Teaching as a Profession pathways had the incredible opportunity to attend the Teach in the Peach Signing Day, a celebration honoring students who are committing to careers in education. The event recognized the passion, leadership, and dedication these students have already shown through their coursework, field experiences, and service to young learners. Students were inspired by educators and peers from across Georgia who share the same goal of making a difference in the lives of children. Attending this special event reinforced the importance of the teaching profession and celebrated the bright futures ahead for our next generation of teachers. We are so proud of our students for choosing a career centered on impact, compassion, and lifelong learning.
