Superintendent Update: May 2026

Good morning Lebanon School District Community,
I hope everyone enjoyed a restful spring break and came back feeling refreshed and ready for the final weeks of the 2025-2026 school year.
The days ahead are filled with the traditions that make this season so meaningful: middle school dances, prom, graduation, Step Up Day, Field Day, and Kindergarten celebrations, among many others. These are the moments students and families will carry with them long after the school year ends.
Thank you, as always, for your support and presence in schools. We are almost there!
In Partnership,
Amy Allen
Superintendent
Student Shoutouts:
Joshua: Leader, Friend, Translator Extraordinaire
A Mount Lebanon administrator sent in the following shout-out: Joshua is an active and enthusiastic participant in the 4th-grade leadership group, where he consistently demonstrates maturity, responsibility, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. He is known among students and staff alike for his kind and caring nature, and he has a special gift for making everyone around him feel welcomed and included. Most recently, during MLS's visit by Colombian singer Nidia Gongora and her band, Joshua helped translate her directions from Spanish, helping our entire school community enjoy the performance and participate fully in the fun! Thank you, Joshua!

Staff Shoutouts:
New Hires to HSS Heroes: Celebrating Mrs. Couture & Mr. McGuigan
A 3rd-grade parent sent in the following shoutout for Mrs. Couture: "Stepping into a brand-new community just two weeks before the school year began, Mrs. Couture has made her classroom feel like home to these kiddos. Despite moving across the country with two young kids and learning a new school, she continues to show up with warmth, patience, and genuine excitement for her students each and every day! She takes time to understand each child, meeting them where they are and helping them grow with confidence. Her welcoming classroom continues to grow confidence and curiosity in each student. Mrs. Couture's dedication does not go unnoticed. She makes learning fun and truly cares about each of their successes. Our school community is so lucky to have her—please thank her for all that she does!"
A HSS administrator sent in the following shout-out for Mr. McGuigan: "I would love to shout out our PE Teacher, Matt McGuigan. Although it is his first year at HSS, he is a veteran teacher and an absolute gem with our students. He is the first to jump in wherever needed and has gone above and beyond to support staff and students alike this year, far beyond the four walls of the gym. We are so very grateful to have him as such a wonderful role model and colleague. Go Matt!"
Shout out the staff member who brightens your/your child's day! Email Amy Allen (aallen@sau88.net) today!
Helping Take Flight Soar: Alum Shouts Out Dr. Bonnie Robinson
Reed Ferland, a 2025 LHS grad and student at WPI, sent in the following shoutout about Bonnie Robinson's work on the Take Flight program: "I just wanted to thank you for all the work you did with the Take Flight program getting our names out of the hangar and into the professional world. I have accepted an internship at Edare this summer and I can confidently say that it would not have happened without all the work you did for us. So know that everything you do does not go unnoticed, and you have made an impact on my life which means so much to me." Congrats Reed, thank you Dr. Robinson!
Three Cheers and Three Chords for Lebanon School District's Music Education!
For the third year in a row, our district has received a Best Communities for Music Education award from the non-profit, philanthropic organization supported by the National Association of Music Merchants. NAMM promotes active music-making, supports music education through grants and advocacy, and funds research on the benefits of music. From school sings in the elementary schools to early morning rock shows at LMS to professional level musicals from the thespians at LHS, music education is clearly woven into the fabric of who we are as a district! Thank you to all the students, staff, and families who make our music program what it is — your passion, dedication, and support are the reason we keep hitting all the right notes!
