Principal's Message
Hiteon community,
As we enter November, I’m reminded of how fortunate we are to be part of such a connected and caring community. In recent weeks, events like Truck or Treat, the PTC Community Meeting, our choir’s performance for the School Board, International Rock and Roll to School Day, and the upcoming Academic Night have filled our school with energy and warmth. These moments remind us that, even when the world feels divided, our Hiteon community continues to come together—building relationships, celebrating one another, and creating joyful experiences for our students and families.
At Hiteon we are also emphasizing two important priorities: ensuring every student attends school each day and amplifying student voice in the learning process while reducing the use of technology in class. We know our community of learners is strongest when every child is present, engaged, and heard. Thank you for all you do to nurture the connection and care that make Hiteon such a special place.

🔔 In the Door by 7:44 AM! 🔔
x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
Why 7:44? Because at 7:45 am, the learning fun begins! Being in the classroom by 7:44 means your child is ready to roll when the bell rings. Every Minute Matters! Arrive on time = start the day with a smile.
No rushing, no missing morning fun. Builds habits that help kids shine for a lifetime.
Tips to Beat the Clock: Pick out clothes and pack backpacks the night before. Set an earlier “leave the house” time than you think.
Try to be on campus by 7:35 am for a calm start.
Please note that the doors will close at 7:45 a.m., and students arriving after this time will be counted as tardy.
Let’s make mornings smooth and start every day strong!

Volunteer Check-In Requirements
It has come to our attention that there’s a need for clarification regarding school volunteers and whether they are required to sign in through the Raptor kiosk. In short, the answer is YES.
While volunteers may use the Raptor Safe app to sign up for events in advance, this action does not constitute official check-in upon arrival. Signing up through the app simply indicates intent to participate, it does not sign them into the event. This distinction is critical for two key reasons:
Mandatory Sex Offender Screening: The real-time background check is only triggered when a volunteer checks in at the on-site Raptor tablet kiosk. Without this step, the required screening doesn’t occur.
Emergency Accountability: If a volunteer is not signed in through the kiosk, the school has no record of their presence on campus. This poses a serious risk in the event of an emergency where accurate headcount and location tracking are essential.
Every volunteer must physically check in at the kiosk each time that they arrive on campus. This is the only way to ensure compliance with safety protocols and to maintain a secure environment for our students and staff.

👚 Lost & Found 👕
Please have your child(ren) take a look at the Lost & Found carts if they are missing items (sweatshirts, jackets, hats, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc). You are also welcome to stop by the school to take a look. The carts are located near the front office by the restrooms and will also be brought out behind the school most Fridays at dismissal.
Items labeled with your student’s full name (or last name and first initial) are easily returned to their owner in the classroom. It brings us so much joy to reunite a lost item with its owner. 😀 If you haven’t already, please take a moment to label your student’s items, especially those which are easily removed. Lots of clothing items now come with a specific area to write your child's name, which makes it easy to find & return to them.
Hiteon Elementary has a 30-day Lost and Found Policy. The Lost and Found carts will be cleaned out after the end of each month. Unclaimed items are donated to the Beaverton School District Clothes For Kids organization to help district families in need. Please be sure to check the cart for missing items before they are donated!

Volunteer Background Check System
If you haven’t done so already, please reapply to be a volunteer in the Beaverton School District. We’re implementing a new volunteer management system over the summer and need time to process and complete the criminal background checks for all applicants.
Start on the Volunteer webpage on the district website. The entire process — including the review of the Child Abuse Prevention & Reporting and Adult Sexual Misconduct training materials — should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
Thank you for prioritizing our students’ safety and for your willingness to volunteer in BSD.
