King's Highway Families,

Students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 began their Firefly testing this week. This practice assessment not only gives teachers valuable insight into student progress, but also helps students strengthen the test-taking strategies and academic skills they’ll need for future PSSA success. We are proud of the focus and effort students have shown so far, and we appreciate the continued support of our families in encouraging strong habits and a positive mindset.

We also invite all families to join us at the CASD Science Showcase this Saturday at the High School. This exciting event highlights student curiosity, hands-on learning, and innovative thinking across the district. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore science projects, celebrate student achievements, and engage with our broader school community.

The Back Is Where It's At - coming to KH Feb 20th

The Back Is Where It’s At” is an interactive seat belt program designed for pre-school and elementary school students. Emphasis is placed on the importance of being properly restrained inside a vehicle and teaching kids the safest place to sit in a car. The program also covers crash dynamics and kids learn why it is dangerous to sit in the front seat where there’s an active airbag.

PTO Weekly Update PTO Weekly Update

To ensure that all parents are better informed about the Parent Teacher Organization’s (PTO) activities, we will begin providing weekly updates.

On February 12th, we held our monthly meeting at 7:00 PM in the library. During the meeting, we discussed several upcoming events, including our annual Bingo Night, which will be held on March 27th at 5:00 PM in the cafeteria.

In the coming weeks, you will receive a SignUp Genius link where families can volunteer to donate items needed to create our gift baskets. These gift baskets are a significant source of revenue for the event, and we truly appreciate any contributions families are able to provide. Please note that a portion of the funds raised during Bingo Night will go toward a new playground for Kings Highway!

In addition to Bingo, we also discussed upcoming Fun Days and Field Days. We will share more about those in upcoming updates.

Calling all 2nd and 3rd grade parents! The PTO is currently missing the voices and perspectives of families in those grades. If you have a child in 2nd or 3rd grade, we strongly encourage you to get involved. The commitment can be as little as one hour a month or as much as several hours a week - we truly appreciate any help you can offer and can accommodate a variety of schedules. We understand that not all parents are able to volunteer during the school day, but we have plenty of opportunities that can be done in the evenings or remotely.

A few additional reminders:

If you have chaperoned a field trip, attended a class party, or participated in any other school-based events at or with Kings Highway Elementary, we need your photos for the yearbook! You can email them to us or add them to our shared Google Album here:

Please also keep in mind the School Store, typically held on the first Friday of each month. Volunteers to help students shop are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

questions? Or ideas for what we should include in the PTO weekly email? Please email us at khspto841@gmail.com.

Join us for our next meeting on March 5th at 6:00 PM in the library or via Zoom.

Thank you for your continued support!

PBIS PBIS

Electronic PRIDE paws!

Our PBIS team at King’s Highway successfully launched the new PBIS Rewards system in January, and it has already been a tremendous success. Students and staff have embraced the program with excitement, and the positive energy is felt throughout the building. One of the highlights is the signature chime that sounds each time a student earns a PRIDE Paw, an audible celebration that reinforces positive choices and encourages others to follow suit. The consistent recognition and clear expectations are helping to build a supportive, encouraging school environment where students feel proud of their accomplishments.
