Adults Entering the Building
Safety is a Priority
To help ensure the safety of all students and staff, we ask that all families and visitors follow our building entry procedures:
Ring the doorbell – Please do not follow (“tailgate”) another person into the building. Ring the doorbell so the office staff can properly greet you and sign you in.
-
Check in at the office upon arrival – All visitors must sign in at the main office; no exceptions.
-
Avoid entering during dismissal – Whenever possible, please refrain from entering the building during dismissal times to keep hallways clear and safe for students.
-
Wait in the office – If dismissing a student early, please wait in the office. Not all staff may recognize visitors, and this ensures you are properly signed in.
Doorbell After 3:30 p.m. – After 3:30 p.m., the doorbell is answered by our Extended Learning Team, who provide coverage until 6:00 p.m.
We understand these procedures may feel like small inconveniences, but they are essential to maintaining a safe and secure school environment. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
School Grounds Closed When School is in Session
Our school campus is a valued space for both students and the greater community. We kindly remind families and community members that the campus is closed to the public during school hours. This includes playgrounds, fields, and all outdoor areas, which are reserved exclusively for student use to ensure safety and security throughout the school day.
In addition, dogs and other pets are not permitted on school grounds at any time.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep our students safe.
From the Health Office
This is a common time of year for head lice.
Please check your child’s hair regularly and remind them to avoid sharing hats, hair accessories, and personal items. If you notice any signs of lice, such as itching or visible nits, please take prompt action and inform the school nurse. Since lice do not jump or fly, are not considered a contagious disease and do not cause illness, children do not need to stay home from school nor should they be isolated from others. It is recommended that all children refrain from prolonged direct head to head contact as this is the primary way that lice are transmitted.
Things to do if/when you find lice on your child:
Complete a treatment on your child's hair (speak with a pharmacist or your pediatrician about which product to use)
Continue to check their hair daily for nits and remove them if so. Please do this for at least 2-3 weeks.
Wash and dry on hot water and high heat settings: bedding, towels, frequently worn hats, jackets, sweatshirts, fleece.
Items that cannot be washed such as stuffed animals, dolls etc can be sealed in a plastic bag for 2 weeks.
Soak your child's brush/comb/hair accessories in very hot water for 5-10 minutes
Thoroughly vacuum rugs, upholstered furniture and mattresses
Do not spray pesticides in your home
To help prevent future occurrences:
Discourage prolonged head to head contact with friends, family, siblings etc.
Though not as common as a mode of transmission, avoid sharing things such as combs/brushes, hats, hair accessories etc.
Keep hair in ponytails

Volunteer CORI Requirements
CORI's are required for ALL volunteers
Parents and guardians who wish to volunteer at school or chaperone field trips must have an active Criminal Offorer Record Information (CORI) check on file with the district.
Key Points:
• School district CORIs are valid for 3 years
• Allow 7-10 business days for processing
• You must have a CORI specifically on file with the school district—CORIs from other organizations do not transfer
• Applications are not available online—contact the MRE Office to request one
Plan ahead and submit your application early so you're ready to volunteer when opportunities arise. Thank you for helping keep our school community safe!

February Lunch Menu
Lunch Time!
Arriving Late or Picking Up Early? Here’s What to Know!
If your child needs to be dismissed early, please keep in mind that lunch and recess can make it harder for us to bring students to the office quickly. When possible, planning pick-ups outside of these times helps everything run more smoothly for both students and staff.
Below are lunch times to support your planning. Recess typically follows right after lunch:
Kindergarten: 11:30–11:55
Grade 1: 11:15–11:45
Grade 2: 11:45–12:15
Grade 3: 12:00–12:25
Grade 4: 12:15–12:40
Grade 5: 12:30–12:55
