ROAR REPORT
Wilson Elementary November 2025

A Message from Mrs. Jorgensen
Wilson Families,
We are looking forward to a fantastic month of March! We are kicking things off with our Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Week as we celebrate reading and all the possibilities it brings. Students also received a Reading Bingo challenge that can be completed throughout the month of March. All completed Bingo boards are due to the front office by March 31st and will be entered into a drawing. We hope your family will join in the fun and make reading a priority at home!
Term 3 SEP Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 12th. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, review progress, and discuss any additional support your student may need to finish the year strong. Our teachers and students have been working incredibly hard to set and reach academic goals, and we would love for you to be part of that continued growth.
We are also continuing to focus on strong attendance. Please make every effort to have your student at school each day and on time, as consistent attendance makes a significant difference in learning and overall success.
Thank you for your ongoing support—Wilson truly is a great place to be!
Love,
Mrs. Jorgensen
School Closure Study Information and Website
If you have any questions or would like more information on the School Closure Study, here is the district website you can access.
Nebo School District School Closure Information
This is from the email that was sent to all parents and families on Thursday, March 12th.
Dear Parents and Families,
I need to share some important news with our school community. At the school board meeting last night, the board voted to begin a study to gather information and consider the impact of closing Wilson Elementary at the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
This discussion comes as a result of declining enrollment across all of the schools in the Payson area. In addition, the city is currently in the process of purchasing Wilson Elementary, which does impact the future use of this site.
We know this brings many emotions. Wilson has meant so much to so many families, staff members, and students over the years. We share the same sadness and sense of uncertainty that many in our community may feel.
Regardless of the the outcome of the study, our focus remains exactly where it has always been- on our students. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive environment with meaningful learning and connection for every child.
Tonight during SEP conferences, we encourage everyone to keep the focus on celebrating our students. They are the heart of this school, and the incredible work they are doing deserves to be recognized.
If you would like to ask questions or share feedback during this process, please visit us in the office or use THIS LINK.
Thank you for being part of this community and for the care and support you show our students every day. We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jorgensen
Career Week is Happening March 23-27
Next week, March 23–27, is our College and Career Week! We are excited to explore a variety of careers and future opportunities with our students. We invite everyone to participate in the dress up days, learn, and discover all the possibilities that are out there.
Dr. Seuss/Read Across America Week
This week (March 2-March 6), we are excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss / Read Across America Week at Wilson Elementary!
On Friday, students should have brought home a flyer outlining our theme and dress-up days for the week. Dress-up days are completely optional, but we would love for students to participate and join in the fun if they are able.
On Wednesday, students will participate in a school-wide Read-A-Thon during the last half hour of the school day. We are looking forward to spending dedicated time celebrating books and building excitement around reading.
On the back of the dress-up day flyer, you will find a Reading Bingo board. As part of our continued push to strengthen reading skills and help all students be successful, we would love to see increased reading engagement at home. We encourage you to complete the Reading Bingo as a family and return it to the front office by Tuesday, March 31st. All returned bingo boards that are marked and initialed by a parent will be entered into a prize drawing.
We truly appreciate your partnership. Supporting reading at home makes a tremendous difference for our students, and we are grateful for your continued involvement.
We are looking forward to a wonderful week celebrating reading!
