The Cobra Connection
Week 3: August 24-28, 2026
Southern Nash Middle School's Mission and Vision
Mission
Southern Nash Middle School provides inclusive learning opportunities for individual success.
Vision
Southern Nash Middle School will be an exemplary middle school by building a quality foundation through healthy relationships and open communication.
Cobra Families,
As we head into our third week of school, we are settling into our routines across campus and continuing to build a strong start to the school year. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support!
As a reminder, please continue to help us with our carline procedures. During morning drop-off, we utilize one lane, and we ask families to pull forward as far as possible before students exit. During afternoon pick-up, we utilize two lanes, and it is important that families use both lanes to help us move vehicles efficiently and reduce traffic backing up onto the roadway. We have also collaborated with the Nash County Sheriff’s Office to review our procedures and ensure our carline operates as safely and efficiently as possible.
As we work together to ensure every student is successful, families can help by:
- Reviewing and following our school uniform expectations each day.
- Connecting with Campus Parent to regularly monitor your student’s grades and attendance. If you need assistance accessing Campus Parent, please contact the school office.
- Connecting with Class Dojo for regular classroom and school updates throughout the year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our students, staff, and school community. We are looking forward to another great week at SNMS!
Go Cobras!
Dr. Allen M. Wilson,
Principal

Attendance Matters — Every Day Counts!
Regular attendance is essential to academic success. NCPS has updated its attendance regulations for the 2026–2027 school year. Families should make every effort to ensure students are at school, on time, and ready to learn every day. Under the updated regulation, students who are absent have five (5) school days after returning to school to complete and submit missed work. When a student must miss school, a written excuse signed by a parent or guardian must be presented to the school on the day of the student’s return.
For middle school students, attendance is also directly connected to promotion. Students in grades 6–12 must attend at least 90% of school days to be eligible for promotion. Additionally, students may not miss more than nine days in each class per semester without entering the attendance recovery/waiver process. Please communicate with the school whenever attendance challenges arise so that we can work together to support your student.
Important Safety & Arrival Updates
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure campus, all students and visitors are required to complete EVOLV security screening when entering Southern Nash Middle School.
To help make our morning screening process as quick and efficient as possible, families are asked to remind students to remove laptops, binders, and eyeglass cases from their book bags before entering the screening area each morning.
Immunizations MUST be up to date by September 10th, 2026!
