Spotlight
We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported our recent Fund Run! Your generosity and enthusiasm helped us raise essential funds for our school.
It was truly heartwarming to see our community come together. Whether you ran with students, volunteered, donated, or cheered from the sidelines, your involvement helped to make this event a huge success.
A special thank you to the many visitors who followed safety protocols by checking in and wearing visitor badges. Your cooperation helps us maintain a secure environment for all.
We also extend a heartfelt thank you to our Foundation and all the volunteers who made this day possible. Together, with our staff and PCK families, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
Apple Awards
It's that time of year again to celebrate the incredible educators and staff in our community. The DCSD Apple Awards recognize those who inspire a love of learning and lead with extraordinary innovation in our schools.
Last year, PCK educators received nearly 100 nominations from our families, and these nominations truly show our staff how much they're appreciated. They serve as a powerful inspiration for our teachers to continue their amazing work.
If you know a PCK staff member who deserves recognition, we encourage you to submit a nomination today. Nominations are open until October 20.
Community Engagement
As part of our ongoing effort to strengthen community involvement in the execution of our strategic plan, we are inviting expressions of interest for our Community Engagement Committee. This committee will play a key role in developing meaningful engagement opportunities that reflect the rich diversity of our families.
By opening this aspect of our strategic plan to community stakeholders, we aim to gain deeper insight into the needs of our community and discover more effective ways to connect with and support them.
Whether you have experience in event planning, a background in volunteering, or simply a passion for making a positive impact in our school community, we welcome your voice and involvement on this committee.
Early Dismissal
One of the key changes to this year’s academic calendar is the addition of early dismissal days on the first Wednesday of each month, with the exclusions of January and May. These early dismissals are designed to give our staff time to participate in strategically planned professional development that directly impacts staff members professional practice and your students academic success.
As a result, carpool will shift on these days. The usual pickup times of 3:10, 3:20, and 3:30 p.m. will move to 12:10, 12:20, and 12:30 p.m. Please note that while the carpool procedures remain the same, the timing will change.
Champions will also adjust their start time on early dismissal days. If your child will be attending Champions, please make sure they are registered in advance.
Count Day
Don't forget that Wednesday, October 1 is Count Day!
Count Day is a critical event for all schools in DCSD, including PCK, because it directly impacts our funding. The Public School Finance Act provides financial support to schools based on student enrollment and attendance on this specific day.
The number of students in attendance on October 1 helps determine our school’s budget. Accurate attendance data is essential to ensuring we receive the necessary funding to support our programs and services throughout the year.
We kindly ask that you avoid scheduling appointments or planned absences on this day if possible. Your support helps us ensure a full and accurate student count.

A position has recently opened for a Preschool Assistant Teacher, and we’re looking to our community for help in finding the right candidate. Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is nearly at full capacity! Please encourage your student to check the Lost and Found before Fall Break.

From the Board of Directors
Beginning this week, the Board of Directors will include regular updates in weekly newsletters to keep our community informed about key topics and decisions discussed at the most recent Board meeting. Our goal is to foster transparency, encourage engagement, and help all members of our community feel confident and welcome to participate.
The most recent Board meeting was held last night in the Events Center. During the meeting, the Board heard from Dr. Weyman regarding ongoing efforts to strengthen staff retention. Academic Directors Breanna Warburton and Stephanie Harper also shared insights from PCK’s 2024–25 CMAS data, highlighting that the school's scores in both English Language Arts and Math significantly exceeded those of DCSD and the state of Colorado.
Additionally, Mrs. Warburton and Mrs. Harper discussed a key initiative within PCK’s Unified Improvement Plan, with the intention to develop a clear and actionable data strategy designed to support both preschool and junior kindergarten teachers and families.
Other agenda items addressed at the meeting included:
- Approval of two new Foundation members.
- Appointment of four individuals to the PCK Building Corporation.
- Consideration of updates to the school’s enrollment policy.
- A report from the Foundation outlining recent and upcoming funding allotments for school improvements, including teacher grants and an air conditioning unit for the lobby.
The next Board of Directors meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Events Center. All community members are welcome to attend.

The next Foundation meeting is set for next Wednesday, October 1 at 8:30 a.m.

From the SAC
Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 8 at 8:15 am in the MS Commons. This meeting will have a virtual option, and the link will be posted in the newsletter the week prior.
We warmly invite the PCK community to join us for an opportunity to engage with our team and learn more about the vital role we play within Parker Core Knowledge.
The SAC serves an essential function by providing accountability in an advisory capacity. Our purpose is to inform, encourage, and create opportunities for parents or guardians to engage meaningfully with the school's performance, budget and improvement plans.
Volunteer Spotlight
This week, we’re proud to highlight Crystal Duran in our Volunteer Spotlight for her generous donation to the P.E. department. Crystal went above and beyond by taking the initiative to support our P.E. team with a wide array of equipment, which will be put to great use during their soccer unit.
We are incredibly grateful to Crystal for thinking of our school and for exemplifying the powerful impact of community support. Her generosity is a shining example of how philanthropy and volunteerism can enrich our students’ experiences. It's this kind of dedication that makes our school community so special and inspires our students to become the next generation of leaders.
