Light and Shadows
Through this “Light and Shadows” assignment, students were challenged with the task of exploring difficult lighting situations in photography. While gaining experience in the way light effects shadows and photographs, students were also learning how to adjust camera settings and exposures to achieve desired results. Composition plays a huge role in the way we look at and appreciate artwork, so students were also using gained knowledge to produce aesthetically pleasing works of art.
Social Studies News:
11 Students attended the INSPIRE Massachusetts Youth Leadership Insitute, a "one-day civic engagement institute designed to empower Massachusetts high school students who are advocating for positive change in their schools and communities." Students heard keynote speeches from changemakers and attended sessions on building community, media relations, and public speaking.
Juniors started their spring civic action projects by examining the rights and responsibilities of citizens as well as barriers and opportunities to become more informed and engaged participants in democracy. Students will be working in small groups to effect change in their communities through research and advocacy while building skills like media literacy and examining the historical models provided by Civil Rights activism.
Sophomore Tyler Cummins has started a history literary magazine called "The Past is Present". The magazine includes writing and artwork from the students across the grades. It will be debuting later this spring. Tyler has been incredibly passionate about this project.
