News & Updates

Hello CELC Families,

I hope you had a fantastic weekend. We are excited for CELC's Annual Halloween Parade on Monday. Parents may stick around to watch our lil pumpkins parade around the upper campus. The parade begins around 9:15 a.m. Please remember that all costumes must be school appropriate and may not include any type of weapon as a prop. Masks may be worn for the parade but not in class or at recess/lunch.

Congratulations to Mrs. Irick's class for winning the popsicle party for the most money earned for PTA memberships. Mrs. Irick will be scheduling a day to celebrate.

Creekside's biggest fundraiser is coming soon! The PTA will be looking for help to plan, organize, and supervise the Turkey Trot. Students will "trot" on Friday, November 18th. Please contact the PTA at creeksidekpta@gmail.com if you are willing to help out.

Help your student meet this goal at home by studying the words with them. There will be opportunities to earn a brag tag for knowing 5/10/20/40 sight words. See the first ten words below to help practice them at home.

Each week, our Cubs study a new color word. This week is brown. Lessons and activities around the color brown will happen throughout the week. This Thursday, students are encouraged to wear brown to school.

Please have a fun and safe Halloween evening! Don't eat too much candy :).

Here is a list of the latest updates and news to keep you informed:

  • Square One Art orders are due by November 8th. Information was sent home last week.
  • Parent conferences are coming soon. Mark your calendars for the week of November 14th. TK and K students will be excused at 12:15 pm all week in order for teachers to meet with parents.
  • Please send your student to school each day with a backpack, refillable water bottle, a healthy snack, and a lunch (unless they are getting a cafeteria lunch).
  • Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. We still are required to follow COVID protocols for illnesses. Please let the office know the reason your child is out and what symptoms they have.

  • We LOVE volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please pick up the required paperwork in the office. All volunteers must be free of COVID-19 The office needs a copy of your CDL, and TB results to process the application.

  • Before and after school care is available. Please contact our ESS Coordinator, Natalija Worrell, if you have any questions at nworrell@alpineschools.net

  • For transportation questions and concerns, please visit AUSD's website at https://www.alpineschools.net/page/transportation or call the GUHSD Transportation Department.

Every Monday is college spirit day and every Friday is school spirit day! Wear a college shirt on Mondays and a Cub shirt (or CELC colors) on Friday.

AUSD 2022-23 LCAP GOALS

The Governor's budget for education mandated that every school district in California needs to update its Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The LCAP is intended to be a three-year plan to improve student achievement by setting annual goals for the district in eight priority areas. Each of the priorities has established data requirements to track district progress improving student achievement. The LCAP requires Districts to gather input from students, teachers, parents, and community members to determine the goals, actions, and budget priorities for the District. Our District staff worked together with all of our stakeholder groups to gather input and craft the draft of our Local Control Accountability Plan. Here are AUSD's 2022-23 LCAP Goals:

Goal #1: Effective Instruction and Curriculum - Provide equitable access to high-quality classroom curriculum and instruction in an inclusive environment that promotes student success.

Goal #2: Safe and Respectful Environments - Ensure all school sites are safe and have healthy and welcoming climates for staff, students, and their families so that all students feel connected and are motivated to attend and ready to learn.

Goal #3: Equitable and Culturally Responsible Systems - Ensure systems and processes eliminate barriers to student success and are equitable and culturally responsive to the needs of our students and their families.

School Rules

CELC and MVLA have three school rules. Students will be learning behavior expectations that are aligned with being safe, responsible, and respectful. We practice Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We understand that our students are still learning to problem solve and deal with school expectations. We believe in progressive discipline and restorative practices. Teachers and staff document concerns and communicate them with parents to form a partnership in your child's success. We love our Cubs and are looking forward to having a productive and positive year (H.A.P.P.Y.)!

Cubs in the Community

Mrs. Ripke will continue the Cubs in the Community tradition. Her goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on FB and IG. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke looks out for future, current, and former Cubs! She is ready to meet the 2022-23 challenge. See her latest sighting below!
