K-8 Campus Updates

Big Shout Out of APPRECIATION to Mrs. Carrie Grigg!

Thank you Mrs. Griggs for standing in the gap during the morning car rider line last week. We were short handed and Mrs. Grigg parked her car and pitched in to help in the K-2 Car rider line! Thank you!

Additionally Parents,

Be mindful that your student’s prompt arrival to school is IMPERATIVE and ensures a FULL day of teaching and learning. Just a few minutes tardy can and will impact your student over time. Please review your morning routines and traffic patterns to ensure a prompt arrival to school. Students that accumulate unexcused tardies and absences are subject to consequences per the Code of Conduct.

Thank you for your continued support. Join us as partners in our mission to “produce successful citizens!” This is just the first step!

Thank you,

Mrs. Spencer

High School Campus Updates

Hi Grizzly Families!

Thank you for your continued efforts to have students on time, ready to learn, and dressed for success. We appreciate your support and look forward to our continuous partnership. It was another awesome week on campus. Our student council representatives were announced on Wednesday, and we are excited about what our student leaders will contribute to the success of CGS. Mrs. Gladden and Dr. Morris met with grade levels on 9/11 to review academic and behavioral expectations and a brief overview of the code of conduct. Our campus began morning announcements for All American Week (9/11-9/17) focused on Remembrance Day (9/11), Patriot Day (9/12), Citizenship Day (9/16), and Constitution Day (9/17).

Reminders:

Please check in with your students to ensure they keep up with their class assignments. If you have any questions, please contact your student's teachers. For students taking NCVPS courses, please have your students communicate with their instructors for questions on assignments, grades, etc. Mrs. Gladden speaks with NCVPS students when progress reports indicate below-average work completion and grades.

The Josten's representative was on campus Friday, 9/13, to provide information on class rings to our Sophomores and Seniors' cap and gown orders. Seniors must purchase their cap and gown. Please see Mrs. Simmons with questions about ordering the cap and gown.

SENIORS:

Lifetouch will be on campus Monday, Sept.16th, and appointments start at 9:00 AM. Seniors are encouraged to schedule an appointment using the link below if they are in need of make up pictures for Drape/Tux. In addition to the opportunities at our school, seniors can have their images done at the Lifetouch senior portrait studios by going to the same link below.

www.prestigeportraits.com/bookappointment

Please email Dr. Morris if you need assistance preparing to apply or apply to college. Early admissions are currently underway for several colleges and universities. Here is a link for information on UNC System admission requirements.

We will take seniors to the ACC College Fair on September 23rd, 2024. They will need to be on campus by 8:20 and will ride the bus to/from the College Fair. We will return by 10:30am. Permission forms were given during English IV classes on Tuesday, 9/10, and are available in the front office. Seniors who wish to attend with Clover Garden must ride the bus and turn in permission slips by 9/18.

As always, thank you for all that you do!

Dr. Morris

Parents' Guide to Student Achievement

Parents, as part of a legislative requirement of Senate Bill 49, each year CGS will provide you with information and updates related to various services and departments within our school. This information will provide you with links and resources of updates to our school programming at all student levels.

Feel free to read over the most updated version of the Parents Guide to Student Achievement document and let us know if you have any questions. We will add to this document throughout the school year and updates will be sent out if needed. We will review this document again next summer and will provide you with updates at the beginning of the new school year.

Also, for your reference- here is the most up-to-date CGS Directory for your reference this school year.

Thank you for continuing to work together to ensure your student's overall academic success this school year!

Testing Calendar- 2024-2025

Students preparing for the SAT can access free SAT prep through Khan Academy. Although we don't offer the SAT on campus, this test prep can be beneficial for our 8th/9th graders taking the PSAT and our 11th graders taking the PSAT/NMSQT in October at Clover Garden. It's a great way to expose your students to the question types they may see on the SAT, PSAT 8/9, and PSAT/NMSQT for our 11th graders.

10th graders will be taking the PreACT in October at Clover Garden. Here is a link to ACT.org for free testing practice and tips. 11th-grade students who plan to take the ACT before the spring administration at Clover Garden or those who are getting a jump start on taking the ACT can begin preparing by utilizing the same free resources.

Please contact our District Testing Coordinator, Ms. Ginter at tonyaginter@cgsnc.org for any questions or concerns.
