Noble Family Newsletter
September 21, 2026
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
Congratulations to 4th grader, Zinnia Byrne, for being named the first recipient of the Superintendent Summer Reading Challenge! Superintendent Kirby surprised Zinnia on Friday with a special visit to celebrate her outstanding accomplishment, with staff and students cheering her on! Superintendent Kirby will return soon to celebrate our second and final recipient. We are so proud of our students for aiming for excellence!
Grit
Noble Families,
Did you know that one of the strongest predictors of a child’s long-term success isn't test scores—it’s GRIT (perseverance, effort, and passion for long-term goals)? This week, we are helping our students build grit by giving them the mic! Great school cultures thrive when students encourage one another, hold each other accountable, and celebrate growth together.
What’s Happening at School This Week: At the end of lessons and morning meetings, we are setting aside time for student-led shout-outs. Our students will publicly recognize peers who show grit, push their own learning, and uphold the Noble Big 4. Learning to give and receive positive feedback from peers helps students see that revision, effort, and perseverance lead to excellence.
How You Can Help at Home:
Ask your child: "Who did you shout out today, or who gave you a shout-out for working hard?"
When your child faces a challenge with homework or a new skill, remind them: "Mistakes are just part of the process—keep pushing through!"
Thank you for partnering with us to build confident, resilient learners!
Mr. Walker, M.Ed.

The District has adopted a plan for communications with persons with disabilities, which is available at the following link: Communication Plan. Grade Level Multi-Tiered Systems & Support (MTSS)
At Noble Elementary, we are deeply committed to ensuring every single student receives the exact support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
From September 29 to October 1, our teaching teams, literacy and math specialists, and support staff will be coming together for our Grade-Level MTSS Data Meetings.
What This Means for Our Students: During these dedicated sessions, our educators will:
Analyze Progress: Look closely at recent learning and growth data for every student.
Personalize Learning: Adjust and design targeted academic and behavioral supports tailored to individual student needs.
Collaborate as a Team: Work directly alongside our intervention specialists and reading/math leads to build unified action plans for our classrooms.
Our master schedule for these days has been thoughtfully designed to ensure all regular classroom learning, lunch, and recess routines run smoothly while giving our staff the dedicated time needed to plan for your child's success.
Fall Interim Exams (Grades 3-5)
As we continue a strong start to the school year, our students will soon be participating in our Fall Interim Assessments. These assessments help our teachers measure student progress, celebrate growth, and tailor instruction to meet every child's unique needs.
Testing Schedule by Grade Level:
Grade 4: Monday, October 5 – Thursday, October 22
Subjects: Math, ELA, and Science
Grade 5: Monday, October 5 – Thursday, October 22
Subjects: Math, ELA, and Science
Grade 3: Monday, October 26 – Friday, October 30

How You Can Support Your Student at Home:
Rest & Routine: Encourage a good night’s sleep before testing days.
Morning Fuel: Ensure your student eats a healthy breakfast at home or at school.
On Time, Every Day: Help your student arrive on time so they feel relaxed and ready to begin.
Positive Encouragement: Remind your student to simply try their best—we just want to see how much they know!
AVID Strategy of the Week
This week, we are continuing to build strong learning habits across our classrooms by focusing on how we ask and answer questions!
Through our AVID framework, we are using a tool called Costa’s Levels of Thinking. This simply means we are encouraging students to move beyond just memorizing or recalling facts, and pushing them to think deeply, explain their reasoning, and connect what they learn to the world around them.
What This Looks Like in the Classroom:
Level 1 (Gathering): Finding facts and defining ideas (e.g., "What is...?").
Level 2 (Processing): Comparing, analyzing, and explaining (e.g., "How does this connect to...?" or "Why did that happen?").
Level 3 (Applying & Creating): Evaluating, predicting, and applying knowledge to new situations (e.g., "What would happen if...?" or "How can we prove this?").
How You Can Help at Home: Try swapping out "What did you do at school today?" with one of these deeper questions over dinner or on the drive home:
"What was a problem you had to solve today, and how did you figure it out?"
"Can you explain why something you learned today is true?"
"How does what you read today connect to something in real life?"
Noble Operations
Traffic Laws - One Ways, Double Parking, etc.
The safety of our students, families, and neighbors is always our top priority during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal. To ensure every child arrives and leaves school safely, please review these important traffic and parking guidelines:
Observe One-Way Traffic Zones: Please pay close attention to posted street signs on Ardoon, Montevista, and Parkdale Roads. These streets transition into one-way traffic during designated school hours to keep vehicles flowing smoothly.
Never Double Park: Double parking blocks sightlines for pedestrians, creates dangerous blind spots for crossing students, and causes heavy traffic backups. Please always park along the curb in designated spots.
Keep Conduct School-Appropriate: Arrival and dismissal are bustling times filled with young children. We ask that all drivers model positive, courteous, and school-appropriate behavior—including keeping speeds low, staying patient, and treating fellow drivers, staff, and neighbors with respect.
