No School on August 26th!
Edison family,
We have just completed our third week of school, and I am thrilled to share how wonderfully our students are settling into the school year. It has been a fantastic week filled with engaging lessons, new friendships, and continued growth in our classrooms.
Our teachers and staff are working hard to create a positive and enriching environment, and it's clear that our students are thriving. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the school are truly inspiring, and it’s a joy to see how much our students have already accomplished in such a short time.
As we continue on this journey, I want to thank you for your ongoing support and involvement. Your partnership is vital to our success, and I am confident that together we will make this year one of the best yet.
Let’s keep up the great work, and I look forward to the many exciting things ahead!
PTO Fundraiser: Please support our PTO, they provide us with many amazing things for our students and staff. In addition, they will help fun our field trips this year. What do you need to do? Contact your kiddos teacher and ask them how you can participate in the PTO, and check your kiddo's back pack for flyers, etc...
Edison Library Information:
-Beginning after Sept 2 the First graders will be checking out library books to bring home. They are allowed one book, and they will need to bring it back to the library at their next visit in order to check out a different book. Please help your student learn to take good care of the library book they borrow!
I would also like to ask for parent volunteers to shelve library books. If you are interested in volunteering you will have to go to the administration building to complete the volunteer background check.
Arrival and Dismissal Times: School starts at 7:25 and pickup time is 3:30, please be on time. If your students will be having breakfast than please have them here by 7:00 am. Thank you,
Homework Reminder: I want to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to support their children with their homework. Your involvement in your child's education plays a crucial role in their academic success. By working together, we can ensure that our students are reaching their full potential.
Parental Involvement: Research consistently shows that students perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. I am proud to share that our school has seen a significant increase in parental engagement over the past year. Let's keep up this positive momentum as we work together to support our children's learning journey.
Summer School Update: I must inform you that there will not be summer school offered this year for attendance recovery. Therefore, it is imperative that your student attend school on time each and every day unless they are sick.
New school policy: Parents, we will not allow early pick up of students after 3pm, including Doctors appointments, etc...
Tardies: Tardies will start this Monday, any student that arrives after 7:35 will be considered tardy. Please know that excessive tardies could result in a meeting with campus administration.
Thank you, and have a blessed week!

Gainesville ISD Wins 2024 TAEA District of Distinction Award!
Only the top 5.5 percent of districts in the state, including GISD, earned the honor this year.
The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) announced the 94 winners of the 2024 District of Distinction Award. Among the list of honorees is Gainesville ISD. The districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build social emotional learning that connect learners to their community and beyond.
TAEA is the leading advocate for the visual arts in the state. The organization has previously honored outstanding TAEA members for work in their classrooms and districts. This is the fifth year that TAEA is honoring districts that meet rigorous criteria as evidenced from data.
For the 2024 award, over 1,200 districts were eligible to apply. Each district submitted documentation they met from the 14-point rubric over the 2023-2024 school year. Only 94 districts met the high standard and will receive the outstanding honor indicating they are in the top 5.5 percent in art education of districts in the state.
