Caution for Bikers, Scooter Riders, and Walkers
We have Tigers who enjoy walking home, riding their bikes home, or riding their scooters home, and I think that's all wonderful.
To ensure their safe arrival home, PLEASE remind them to stay on the sidewalk. We have had a few parents report to us lately that they see our Tigers walking, riding bikes, and riding scooters in the streets. That's too dangerous!
Please remind your Tiger(s) to remain safely on the sidewalks. They should only be in the street when it's necessary for them to cross a street in order to get home. Please, let's all work together to keep our Tigers safe.
Lastly, I'd like to remind you that tomorrow our campus will not be open for visitors as our 5th grade students will be taking the Science STAAR assessment.
With warmest regards,
Amy Russ, Principal
One Community, One School, One Book
On Monday, April 8, our school embarked on a special project: an all-school book club called One Community, One School, One Book. Every family was provided a copy of Applebossom the Possum by Holly Goldberg Sloan. Students were provided their copy of the book during library classes the first week of April. Families are invited to read the book together at home during this program.
Please click this link to view the reading calendar and to learn more. Happy Reading!
Our Tigers thank the WCHE PTO for helping us to purchase our Appleblossom the Possum books.
We LOVE our new books!
And, we LOVE our WCHE PTO.
Updates for 2024 Spring Enrichment Classes
Due to our schools being closed on April 8, the Spring Enrichment classes that were scheduled for that day will be made up as shown below:
- Sign Language and Robotics will have classes on April 15 and 22
- Sign Language and Robotics' last classes will now be April 22
- Drama Kids' last class will be April 15 instead of April 8
If your Tiger(s) will attend these Spring Enrichment classes, you may need to update their SMART Tag settings with the appropriate dismissal changes for April 15 and 22. Thanks!

Have a super interesting career?
If so, we hope you are willing to be a guest speaker for WCHE's Career Day on Thursday, May 9! We would be honored for you to share your expertise and excitement about your career with our students! By introducing our Tigers to a broad range of career possibilities, we hope to ignite new interests as they consider their future careers.
We are looking for parents or community members who would be willing to speak to classes of students about their jobs, when they first knew that they wanted to pursue this career, what was required to get them in that position (education,) how their job relates to their interests now, the most rewarding part of their job, and the most difficult part of their job. They will also have an opportunity to "show and tell" with props, photos, video clips, or demonstrations. Finally, they will be able to answer student questions.
Speakers will present to a particular grade level on Thursday, May 9, and they will present 4-5 sessions approximately 20 - 25 min each. Speakers will be selected by our Social Emotional Learning Team with the goal of representing a variety of career fields. If we have multiple volunteer speakers from similar career fields, speakers will be selected randomly.
