Thank You, Trustees!
January is School Board Recognition Month
We Appreciate our Trustees!
EISD celebrated our team of seven volunteer trustees at the January board meeting on Monday night. Students and campus principals presented each trustee with personalized gifts and special words of admiration.
Our school board members dedicate countless volunteer hours to ensuring every student in our community has access to quality education. They make tough decisions on budgets, policies, and programs, often balancing competing priorities while keeping student success at the center.
This month, let's recognize our trustees for their service! They attend evening meetings, review complex proposals, listen to community feedback, and work to shape the future of our schools.
Heartfelt Thanks To:
President Byron Mitchell
Vice President Pete Bega
Secretary Cheryl Reese
Parliamentarian Teneisha Wilson
Beth Walterscheidt
Patrick Maass
Barry Barker
Thank you for your commitment to our students, teachers, and community. Your work matters more than you know.

What Matters Most For Our Students to be Successful In Life?
We're launching a new program called the Elgin Essentials.
We're collecting information from our community on exactly what values in life matter most for our students to be successful in their future.
We Need Your Help — Will You Join Us?
The question: What values and life skills do you believe every Elgin ISD graduate should possess?
The request: Help us create the Elgin Essentials together.
The Elgin Essentials will be a framework of fundamental values that define what it means to be a Wildcat. We really want these to reflect the heart of our community. What do you hope our children will carry with them long after they leave our schools? What traits do you admire most? What makes a community strong? What specific behaviors do successful and respected individuals exhibit?

Parents, We Need Your Help!
Starting Sept. 1, 2025, a new state law (Senate Bill 12) requires parental consent before any school staff, including but not limited to nurses, counselors, or athletic trainers, can provide any services to students, such as basic first aid.
Action required: To ensure that your child has access to the care and services they need, Elgin ISD has created this form for you to provide consent. This form must be completed and submitted before health or counseling services can be provided. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfxw0ul31y3tYBD_JNkxHDfsO0UbXRrwvNfxaEF2MSZbr3A5Q/viewform
In the past, consent was assumed as part of routine care. Now, SB 12 states that services cannot be provided without written parental consent on file. The law helps to ensure parents are informed and involved, and your consent provides the necessary documentation to ensure our staff can continue serving students with care and integrity.
We appreciate your support and patience as we adapt to this change. Thank you to our staff for their ongoing dedication to student well-being!
