2023 Middleton Parent Survey

We want to hear about your experiences at Middleton this year. Our School Site Council has developed a survey to gather feedback and would appreciate your participation. The survey will be available through May 21 and will help us made Middleton even better! We look forward to hearing from you.

Site Council Volunteer Opportunity

The Middleton Site Council has open positions for the 23-24 school year and we hope you will consider joining the team. Site Council meetings are held bimonthly from 2:30 - 3:30. The purpose of the team is to provide feedback around school improvement goals and guide the school towards achieving these goals. The positions are open to any interested parent/guardians who will work alongside staff and the principal. If you are interested, please email Michelle Wunnicke mwunnicke@sherwood.k12.or.us

Middleton 23-24 Class Placement Parent Input

As the end of the year approaches, we are starting to look ahead to next school year. The Middleton staff realizes that parents provide valuable information regarding their child’s placement. While we do not take requests for specific teachers, parent input will be carefully considered in the formation of classes for the 2023-2024 school year. Our class placement process is a collaborative one and our Placement Team takes into account a number of factors when forming classes: personalities, academic levels, learning styles, learning needs, and student compatibility. We look at each student as an individual and as a member of a diverse class. This information will be given careful consideration. Every effort will be made to provide the most appropriate educational setting for your child and to establish well-balanced classrooms. Please keep in mind that parent placement input is not a teacher request form. Any form turned in with a specific teacher’s name request will not be considered.

Please complete this survey no later than 5 pm on Sunday, May 14th, 2023.

Middleton Carnival

The Middleton Carnival is back this year! Join us for food, games, prizes, and lots of fun! The whole family is invited to attend on May 19th from 4:00 pm- 8pm.

PAC is putting raffle baskets together for one of the events. Donations will be collected and PAC will distribute the money to purchase items for each of the baskets. A basket will be put together for each grade level and contributions will go directly toward your student's grade level basket. Each raffle basket will have a unique theme.

If you are able we would love any donation to go towards this. In the past $20 per family was often used but any amount is greatly appreciated! As an incentive, we are offering 5 raffle tickets to the families/kids that donate towards the baskets. The kids have so much fun with this raffle and are able to put tickets in the boxes the week of the carnival. Some baskets in the past have been Nerf, Nintendo, and baking just to name a few! Please send money via Venmo, PayPal, or checks/cash can be dropped off at the office with Michelle if you are able. Any questions can be emailed to middletonpacboard@gmail.com

  • Middleton Elementary PAC Venmo: @middletonpac
  • PayPal.me/middletonpac

Please be sure to include your child's grade, the child's first and last name, and that it is for carnival raffle baskets. We will distribute 5 raffle tickets to the families who donate to the classroom. Donations will be accepted through May 10th. We appreciate your support!

Character Trait of the Month

May is MENTORSHIP! We all could use a little guidance or leadership from a trusted friend, teacher, parent, counselor. May is about teaching our kids to come alongside other students and be a trusted mentor. Kids don’t realize the positive influence they can have. Kids can pass on their wisdom and advice to ease the anxiety of another. Make sure as adults we are seeking wise counsel so we can pass it along to future generations. If you think your child could use mentoring reach to your classroom teacher or our counselor, Alyssa Olson. Whether you are mentoring or being mentored all helps our kids!

Mileage Club

We are excited to offer Mileage Club to our students this year! Mileage Club is a running/walking club that will take place during lunch recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays (weather permitting) during the month of May. Students are given the optional opportunity to participate by running or walking laps and are able to win fun toe tokens based on how many laps they run.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!! Volunteering for Mileage Club is fun and easy. Volunteers will either be hole punching student's run cards when they finish each lap or standing along the course to ensure student's safety. You are welcome to bring younger siblings with you for this as well. Sign up here for as many or few dates as you are available!

Middleton Attendance Emails

Sherwood schools are piloting a new system to keep families informed about their student’s attendance. Soon, all Middleton families will begin receiving a regular attendance email for each of their students. Regular attendance is important and our hope is that this will provide guardians with timely and meaningful information. We recognize that there are a variety of reasons for student absences including sickness and appreciate efforts to minimize the spreading of illnesses. In addition to this, we will continue to communicate with families whose students are not meeting the state attendance guidelines. As always, if we can help in any way with improving your child’s attendance, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or directly to me.
