The new students at Cahaba participated in a “New Folks Club” that met with the counselor twice at the beginning of school to get to know all things about Cahaba and each other. They learned what it means to have a growth mindset in a new setting, and then they ended with a welcome celebration as a culminating event. Mrs. Tyner came and talked with them during the celebration to answer any questions they had about their new school. It was a fun time, and the students enjoyed getting to meet new friends.
Science Takes Flight at Paine
Ms. Ragusa's students at Paine Elementary explored the difference between independent and dependent variables by designing their own paper airplanes. By adjusting the wing size (independent variable) and measuring the distance traveled (dependent variable), they got to see firsthand how one change can affect the outcome. Learning through building, testing, and flying made this lesson unforgettable!

For any questions concerning student mental health, please contact Mrs. Beth Cardwell, TCS Student Support Specialist at (205) 228-3036 or your student's school counselor.
