Eagle Families,

We have one month under our belt. Can you believe it will be September next week. The year is off to a great start and getting busier by the week. Two big things for September will be Parent/Teacher Conferences and Heritage Weekend.

If you have not signed up for a Parent/Teacher Conference please reach out to your child's teacher. Sign-ups have been sent out on Parent Square. This is a great way to help build a good partnership with your child's teacher to best support students and their learning.

Heritage Weekend will begin the evening of our Parent/Teacher Conferences and will be full of exciting activities. We are excited for the 3rd and 4th grade Heritage Field trip on Sept. 9th. 4th grade will be working on their parade float. Also on Sept. 9th, K-2 will have a visit from the same author that came a couple of years ago. He has another book and will bring his tractor. I have heard how much the students enjoy this.

Please join us in welcoming Tara Beckman in welcoming our new elementary secretary! We are excited to have her join the Lanesville Elementary Family and look forward to all she will bring to this role. For those that do not know Mrs. Beckman, she and her family have been a part of our school community for many years. You may have seen her husband, Matt, coaching several different sports teams within our schools. They also have a daughter who is a 3rd grader here at LES!

As a reminder, please be prepared to provide a reason for your visit at the main entrance and have your ID ready when picking up students. Thank you for helping us keep our school safe.

SCHOOL HOURS: Monday-Thursday FRIDAY (EARLY DISMISSAL)

• 7:30 AM - Doors Open
• 7:55 AM - School day begins
• 2:40/2:10 (Friday) PM - Car Rider Dismissal
• 2:55/2:25 (Friday) PM - Bus Rider Dismissal

The school day begins promptly at 7:55AM. In the event that your child is tardy (any arrival after 7:55AM), please walk them into school so you can sign them in at the front office.

Please call the school office to report absences and late arrivals (after 9AM). If your call is not answered, leave a message with your name, the student's name, and the reason for the absence. This is a new process and everyone needs to have a background check if you want to volunteer or chaperone at school. This background check will be good for three years.

Please note: If you are currently employed by Lanesville Community School Corporation (teacher, substitute teacher, paid coach, or other staff member), you do not need to complete the volunteer background check, as you already have an employment background check on file.

• Processing Time: 5–10 business days

All personal information submitted is kept confidential and is used solely for the purpose of ensuring student safety. Please be aware: The background check is a multi-step process. After submitting your information, you will receive two separate emails from KidTraks Support—one containing a link and another containing your password. You must complete the final step within 10 days or your application may expire and need to be restarted.

If you think you may volunteer at any point during the school year, we encourage you to complete your background check before school begins.
