Why sign into Google Chrome?/¿Por qué iniciar sesión en Chrome?

Students and Teachers-check this out. If you sign into Chrome with your Adams 12 Google account, you can personalize your browser, search your browsing history, and get to your bookmarks from any computer. Your browsing history and bookmarks also follow you to mobile devices when you log in. And, with the Google Chrome Store, you can add apps and extensions that will also be there wherever you log in. Here are a few of my favorite extensions from the Chrome store:

  • Google Dictionary
  • Google Translate (Step by Step Instructions)
  • goo.gl URL Shortener (shorten long URLs and create QR codes)
  • SpeakIt! (reads websites aloud)
  • Print Friendly & PDF (print websites without all of the extra stuff and turn them into easy to send PDFs)
  • Awesome Screenshot (Take screenshots of a website, and you can blur sensitive info, annotate, circle important information, and more. You can then save, copy, or print your annotated screenshot.)

2. Add a Creative Commons Attribution Helper

Need to give credit to photos you found on PhotoPin or on some other Creative Commons photo site? Add a CC Attribution Helper to your Chrome bookmarks bar! Visit site for the Attribution Helper and look for the blue box (see example on the right). Drag that blue bar to your bookmarks bar.

Then, when you are on a Flickr page for a Creative Commons photo, you just click that "CC Attribution Helper" on your bookmarks bar. You'll then get a box pop up (like below). The "Attribution (text)" info is what you can copy and paste into your presentation to easily give credit to the creator! (I did this at the bottom of this page if you'd like an example.)

Two Great Perks When You Sign into Chrome
Check out the video below for even more info and see some of those extensions (from above) in action. Signing in to Chrome would be especially helpful as students are working at home. Their bookmarks and history would then be available both places!
