Parent Conferences Are Fast Approaching!
ππThe Foster Book Fair is Coming! ππ
October 16-October 26
The book fair is open for students during library times, with parents after school, and during parent conferences.
The easiest way to let your child shop at the fair independently is by creating a Book Fair eWallet through our book fair homepage. It's easy to set up and easy for family and friends to add funds.
You also have a chance to contribute to Share The Fair--the giving program that supports students at our school who need help buying books. Consider participating so that no child leaves the Fair empty-handed!
Preview the books coming to the Fair by taking a 360 tour via our book fair homepage and explore the titles, watch the video book trailers, and more.
We can't wait to see you at the fair!
Foxes, Get Ready to Shake, Rattle & Roll!π¦
Mark your calendars! On Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 10:15 a.m., our school will join millions of participants across the state and around the globe for the annual Great Oregon ShakeOut. This statewide event is an excellent opportunity for our community to review emergency safety plans, assess preparedness, and practice exact steps to stay protected.
To ensure our Foxes stay sharp and safe during emergency situations, our school will be conducting back-to-back safety drills:
- Earthquake Drill: Students will practice the vital Drop, Cover, and Hold On routine. They will learn to drop to their hands and knees, take cover under a sturdy desk or table to shield themselves from flying debris, and hold on tight until the simulated shaking stops.
- Evacuation Drill: Immediately following the earthquake drill, teachers will safely guide their classes outside to our designated evacuation zones. This walkthrough helps students memorize evacuation routes and ensures a calm, orderly exit from the building.
How to Prepare at Home
Emergency readiness is a team effort! You can help reinforce these safety habits at home by:
- Talking About It: Ask your child what they learned during the drill and practice "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" together in different rooms of your house.
- Building a Kit: Gather basic emergency supplies for your home and vehicle, including water, non-perishable food, flashlights, and first-aid items.
- Creating a Family Plan: Discuss where your family will shelter during an emergency and establish a clear communication strategy so everyone knows how to reach each other.
π Halloween Costume & Candy Guidelines for a Safe, Fun Celebration!
Halloween is just around the corner, and we are excited to celebrate with our student community! To ensure the day is safe, manageable, and fun for all of our Foxesβespecially our youngest learnersβplease review our school guidelines for costumes and treats:
- Afternoon Wear Only: Costumes will NOT be worn all day. Students will change into their costumes right before our afternoon Serpentine parade. Please send your child to school in regular clothes, with their costume securely packed in a bag labeled with their name.
- Keep it Safe & Friendly: Costumes must contain no weapons of any kind (including toy swords, guns, or knives) and should not be too scary. We have very young children on campus, and we want to keep the environment welcoming for everyone.
- Dress for Independence: Costumes should be easy for your child to get in and out of independently. Teachers will be supervising, but students should be able to manage their own outfits for the afternoon activities and bathroom breaks.
- Candy Stays at Home: Please keep all Halloween candy at home following the holiday. To maintain healthy classroom routines and accommodate student allergies, candy outside of teacher-sponsored classroom parties is not permitted at school.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us create a fun, safe, and positive experience for all of our students. We can't wait to see our Foxes show off their creativity during the afternoon Serpentine!
October Spirit Day!
π¦ Want to Volunteer at Foster?
We love having families and community members involved at Foster! Whether youβre helping in a classroom, attending a field trip, supporting a special event, or volunteering in another capacity, all volunteers must have a current, approved volunteer application on file each school year.
Volunteer applications are available through the school office. At this busy time of year, please allow 1β2 weeks for processing and approval.
Please plan ahead! Without an approved application, you will not be able to volunteer at school events, field trips, or other activities. Volunteer applications are located in the school office.
Thank you for helping us keep Foster a safe and welcoming place for all of our students!
