A Tribute to Our First Four Year Cohort
The SKG Bands was proud to commission an original piece of music for our 2026 Spring Concert. Tabula Rasa, Latin for "blank slate", was commissioned in honor of Seckinger High School’s first four-year cohort of band students—the Class of 2026. As founding band members, these 44 seniors helped build the program from the ground up, growing from young musicians into leaders performing the most advanced repertoire. This piece reflects their journey: from the uncertainty of a “blank slate,” to the energy of establishing traditions, to a moment of reflection on the legacy they leave behind. "It’s not a sad goodbye; it’s a "see you later." To the seniors: thank you for making this band what it is today. This piece is for you."
The piece was composed by Reece Moseley. Moseley is a Mill Creek HS graduate (and a former student of Ms. Cavender's) that will graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors in Music Composition in May of 2026. He has been a member of the SKG Bands staff since we opened in 2022 and has been supporting the Class of 2026 band members throughout their journey. The premiere performance (see video) took place on April 30, 2026, at the SKG Bands Spring Concert.
