Google Sites Update

Earlier this school year, Google released the new Google Sites and announced that the classic Sites would eventually be retired. They have just announced more information about the deprecation of classic Sites.

This fall and in 2018, Google will launch features in classic Sites that will help owners migrate to the new Sites. After the migration process is underway, they will announce a firm retirement deadline. Once announced, there will be at least one year of unchanged operation, followed by 3 months of read-only operation.

For more information, click here. If you have questions about creating a new Google Site, please contact me.

FlipGrid

Flipgrid is a *FREE* video discussion community for your classroom. Teachers post questions or add topics, then students respond with short video clips. All responses are posted to the community in a grid format. Students can then view and "like" each other's posts. Flipgrid "draws the entire class into an open discussion of divergent experience, perspective, evaluation, and debate."

Professional Growth Opportunities

Megan Preis (Lincoln ITC) has organized a wonderful list of out-of-district, *affordable* Professional Growth opportunities. Remember, as a District 64 employee, you can get Professional Growth credit for pre-approved activities!

Just a reminder.... only In-District, Out of District, and College activities can be pre-approved during the summer months.

All applications for pre-approval for summer Self Studies, Curricular Study Groups, and Career Service Incentive Grants are due in Skyward by Monday, May 15, 2017.

Parent University - Putting Your Best Foot Forward
This video will help families (with students in grades 3-8) talk about how our digital actions create a first--and possibly lasting--impression, and how we can foster a positive online culture for ourselves and those we interact with both near & far.

Back Up Your Computer!

Washington teachers, please remember to back up your computers as soon as possible, in preparation for your new devices.

We ask that you please complete the backup by May 19!

Files and folders that exist on your desktop computer and MacBook (Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Music, etc.) must be backed up before handing in your old devices.

We highly recommend you back-up to Google Drive, which has unlimited storage and can be accessed from any device.

If you have any questions, please contact Pat or me.

Once you have completed your back-up, please add your name to this spreadsheet.
