ISBE Summative Designation
Each October, the Illinois State Board of Education releases the Illinois School Report Card to share official performance information about all public schools across the state. We are proud to announce that Wingate Elementary School has received a EXEMPLARY (the highest possible designation a school can receive) designation on the 2026–2027 Illinois School Report Card! This recognition means our school performed in the top 10% statewide, with no underperforming student groups. Congratulations to our incredible students, teachers, staff, and families for this achievement!
Lockdown Drill on November 3
In coordination with the St. Clair County Police Department, SES will conduct a schoolwide Lockdown Drill on November 3. These safety drills are required by the Illinois State Board of Education and are an important part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
Practicing these procedures helps ensure that everyone in our building knows how to respond calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency. This drill will be announced in advance, so students will be aware that it is only a practice and should not feel alarmed.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at SES.
Veterans Day Assembly
We will not have school on Wednesday, November 11 to celebrate Veterans Day. We will have a schoolwide Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 10 to commemorate the holiday. The Mascoutah High School Junior ROTC Honor Guard will present the Colors, sing the national anthem, perform a drill, and play Taps during the student assembly. All students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue for the assembly. On behalf of the staff of SES, THANK YOU to all our veterans and your service and sacrifice to our country!
Booster Fundraiser Recap
We want to send a huge THANK YOU to our families for your support with the Booster Fun Run in October. With your efforts, SES raised over $36,000! This money will help provide many fun activities for students throughout the year. We also want to give a shout-out to our amazing PTO for all of their help in coordinating the Fun Run. Our students had an absolute blast!
Believe it or not, eventually it will get colder!
As we transition to colder weather in the Midwest, we want to remind you that students will continue to go outside for recess unless the windchill temperature drops below 20 degrees. Please consider sending extra hats and gloves for students to keep in their locker. Remember to label all hats/coats/lunch boxes with your child's name.
From the Desk of Our Social Workers
Deployment Group
Are your children struggling with the deployment of an important family member in their life? Our MFLC Counselor runs weekly deployment groups for our SES students in the Fall and the Spring! If you are interested in getting your child in this group for the Fall, please email our MLFC Coordinator, Ms. Sheila Marshall at marshalls@msd19.org
Children's Grief Awareness Day
SES is participating in Children's Grief Awareness Day on Thursday, November 19. Children and adults together can show their support for children who have experienced grief. We are asking everyone at SES to wear blue in support of our students who have lost someone they love. Thank you for supporting our students!
Volunteering at SES
Thank you so much to all of our volunteers who helped with the Book Fair last week. We couldn't do it without you!
Thank you to all who are willing and able to volunteer at various events at SES throughout the year! If you are volunteering or having lunch with your child, you must present your driver's license or state ID in the office. This is needed to scan your license through our background software to be in the building. Unfortunately, Military IDs will not work with our software program.
SES PTO Information
We have an amazing PTO at SES that plans a large number of fun activities throughout the school year.
If you would like to join the PTO, please fill out the membership form at this link (returning members, please also fill out): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSef_AvxmUyY3Bh1A9saK1bqwyO28XTv-X0TwqQW1RZ-0GKIjA/viewform?usp=sharing

Moving Soon?
If your family is planning to move soon, please contact the school office as soon as possible so your child's school records can be finalized. Please provide up to one week in order to prepare the records. We will miss you!
Extended Absences
Families that will be missing three or more days from school will need to complete our "Extended Absence Request" form in order for the absence to be excused. The form can be found in the school office. Families are granted one extended absence per school year. Thank you for your cooperation!
Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
As we approach the winter months, please be mindful that patience is a must for drop off and pick up times due to more cars being present in the parking lot. Please know that we are doing our best to get students in cars quickly, but safety is always our priority. If you need to help your child in and out of the car, please park in the parking lot and walk your child to and from the building. If you are using the pick up/drop off lane, please remain in your vehicle in order for traffic to continue moving. As a reminder, state law prohibits the use of cell phones in school zones. Thank you for your cooperation!
