Hello SIS Families,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Family-Teacher Conferences last week! We enjoyed the opportunity to connect with you, celebrate your student’s progress, and have meaningful conversations about their continued learning and growth. We are grateful for the time you took to connect with our teachers and for your continued partnership throughout the year.

We have some fun things happening at SIS over the next couple of weeks! Tomorrow, we’ll kick things off with a schoolwide Brewers Spirit Day as we cheer on the Brew Crew in Game 1 of the World Series! Students are encouraged to wear their favorite Brewers gear or blue and gold to show their support. Go Brewers!

Next week, we’ll continue the fun with our first School Spirit Week of the year! We hope students will join in throughout the week:

  • Monday: Blanket Day

  • Tuesday: Jersey Day

  • Wednesday: On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

  • Thursday: Throwback Thursday

  • Friday: Costume Day (no masks or toy weapons)

Spirit Week is always a fun opportunity for students and staff to show some creativity, connect with one another, and build community. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone participate!

As we enjoy these activities, we are also quickly approaching the end of the first quarter on November 6. This is a great time for students to check Infinite Campus, review their current grades, and make sure assignments and assessments are complete and up to date. We encourage families to check in with their students about their progress and help them finish the quarter strong.

Looking ahead, mark your calendars! Our first SIS school dance of the year will be Friday, November 20. The dance will have a fall theme, and we’ll share additional details in next week’s bulletin, including the student permission slip and information about attending. Stay tuned!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. Please take a few moments to review the important information and updates below, and enjoy the rest of your week!

In Partnership,

Tiara Rogers, SIS Principal

Stocking the Staff Lounge

Let's show our wonderful SIS teachers and staff appreciation by keeping their staff lounge stocked with all their favorite snacks and drinks! SIS PTO started the oaSIS (a snack cart in the staff lounge and beverage drawer in the staff lounge fridge) three years ago. It's truly been a hit, and such an easy to way to let our staff know how much we appreciate them every day. Please use this sign up to donate what you can to create an oaSIS for our teachers. Note that you don’t have to drop off snacks/beverages on any specific day; the office staff will restock the cart or the fridge whenever there is something to put out. Thanks for your generosity!!

Supporting the SIS PTO

Thank you so much to those who have already donated to the SIS PTO. So far, we have raised $550. We are continuing to ask for donations to support PTO sponsored activities. Without your financial support, we are at risk of not being able to host all of the events that we have done traditionally.

The options for donating to the PTO are as follows:

  1. Donate via Venmo to: @SIS-Oldenburg

  1. Donate via Infinite Campus: From the home page, click on your student’s profile. Click “Fees.” At the bottom of the page, click “Optional Payments.” Select “SIS PTO Donation” and then an amount to add to your cart and pay.

  2. Drop off cash or a check payable to “SIS PTO” at the SIS office.

We have selected the date for the Fall Dance – Friday, November 20 from 6-8pm.

Watch for a sign up genius in the next few weeks with more information on how you can help with decorating, chaperoning, and selling concessions.

Our next PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. at Three Lions Pub. All are welcome to attend.

Please contact Laura Oldenburg at SISPTO414@gmail.com with any questions.

SHS Drama Presents "You Can't Take It With You"

We are quickly approaching Shorewood Drama's opening show of the season: YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU. This heartwarming comedy welcomes us into the lives of the zany, free-spirited Sycamore family. Alice Sycamore loves Tony Kirby, but worries her eccentric family of hobbyists and nonconformists will shame his wealthy, conservative parents. What makes two people a good match? How much should family views have influence over who we love? This story shows how true success may come from pursuing happiness and doing what you love, not only chasing money or social status. This crowd favorite won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. To this day it remains one of the most beloved plays produced in high schools and community theatres. It certainly has been a wild and happy theatrical journey for us, and we are so excited to share this world we have created with all of you!

Performances are in the SHS/Gensler Auditorium October 22, 23, and 24 at 7 p.m. and also on October 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for Students/Seniors/SSD Employees, and may be purchased at the door. Or, use our ticketing platform to reserve seats: https://shorewooddrama.ludus.com/200542780 (service fees will be added to the ticket price).

SHS Blood Drive: November 11

Did you know that every 2 seconds, someone in America requires a blood transfusion? From trauma patients to those battling cancer, your donation can make a lifesaving impact. You’re invited to donate and become a hero at our upcoming blood drive at Shorewood High School in the North Gym between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11. >>Schedule an Appointment Here<<

School Board Listening Session with Families of Students with Disabilities

Monday, October 26 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Shorewood High School Room 116

Each year, the School Board holds Listening Sessions with District parents and caregivers, staff, and students. Listening Sessions provide opportunities to discuss questions and priorities directly with Board members, and we encourage parents and caregivers of students with disabilities to attend. No RSVP is necessary.

Shorewood 4K Registration

Registration opens on November 16, 2026 for 4K Kindergarten for the 2027-2028 school year. There are morning and afternoon 4K sessions at both Atwater and Lake Bluff Elementary Schools. Interest in morning 4K enrollment tends to be high. If you are interested in Morning 4K, you must register by Monday, February 1, 2027 to be entered in a lottery for available seats. Families will be notified about placements on or before Friday, February 5. 2027.

More information about 4K registration is on the District website.

Shorewood Connects Fall Yard Cleanup 2026

Please join us on Saturday, November 7 from 9am - noon for one of Shorewood's favorite events: the annual fall yard clean-up. Volunteers help older and disabled neighbors with light yard work. It's a great way for families, students (anyone!) to connect with neighbors and to give back to the community. No job takes more than 3 hours. Volunteers get a free t-shirt, a donut, Starbucks coffee and a Culver's coupon. NHS students can earn volunteer hours.

If you have questions, reach out to Becca Pipkorn at shorewoodcleansup@gmail.com.

School Issued Chromebooks

Students have been managing their school-issued Chromebooks quite well so far this year! Students can visit the SIS Library when they have tech issues including:

  • Chromebook isn't working
  • Chromebook is damaged (repair fine may be assessed through IC and you will be emailed)
  • Chromebook needs to be charged (student will be reminded that charging their Chromebook every night is their responsibility, as is having a charger with them if the battery dies during school)
  • Chromebook charger is lost (replacement fine may be assessed)
  • Chromebook is lost (Tech department can track its whereabouts; if a replacement is needed, the cost will be charged through IC and you will be emailed)
  • Chromebook was left at home (student will be encouraged to call a family member from the Library to deliver the device to school)

Students may be issued a loaner Chromebook to allow them to complete school work at school. Loaners are due back at the end of each day (unless the Library staff allows a multiple-day loan due to needed repairs, in which case the student should check email regularly to know when the repair has been completed).

  • No student may have more than one loaner checked out at a time
  • Loaners that are not returned on time may incur a library fine. Loaners that are checked out longer than a week will be locked/disabled with a potential $100 fine

Thank you for reinforcing your student's good habits!

SIS Mock Trial

Adult volunteers are still welcome to get involved with Mock Trial, every Friday at SIS during Flex time. Whatever your experience with the law, we'd love to have you join us to explore the aspects of trial with an engaging group of seventh and eighth graders, culminating in a mock trial at the end of the year. Join us for as many or as few sessions as you are available. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Shorewood parent volunteers Tamar Kelber (kelber@gassturek.com) or Mike Lueder (mlueder@hansenreynolds.com).

FastBridge Screening Data

The FastBridge Universal Screening Assessment is administered in the Fall, Winter, and Spring to measure each student’s growth throughout the school year. Students in grades K-8 complete FastBridge testing in math. Students in grades 4-8 complete FastBridge testing in reading (aimswebPlus is used as the screening tool for reading in grades K-3). Families have access to FastBridge scores via Next Path.

Accessing the screening results through NextPath

Please use this link to view your student's FastBridge screener results. Step-by-step directions for accessing NextPath are linked here.

For each assessment your student completed, you will see a percentile, which measures how students performed relative to their peers nationally. This data allows staff to identify students who are on track as well as students who may need supplemental instruction focused on growth. You can learn more about FastBridge data by accessing the following link: ”Understanding the FastBridge Family Report.”

Reporting School Absences and Appointments

We appreciate when guardians report student absences to the SIS office in a timely fashion. Whether your student needs to arrive late, leave school for an appointment, or will be out for the whole day, you now have three ways to report the information so we can keep things flowing smoothly. Please use whatever reporting method is easiest for you!

  1. Leave a voicemail on the attendance line at 414-963-6959
  2. Email sisinfo@shorewood.k12.wi.us
  3. Use the Infinite Campus Portal (More > Absence Requests)

For medical appointments, please submit the slip you receive from the doctor's office after the appointment to the main office, either on paper or via email to sisinfo@shorewood.k12.wi.us.

When your student was in elementary school, it may have seemed natural for you to notify their teacher about absences and appointments. You do not need to do that in grades 7-12. The office will record attendance information in Infinite Campus, where all of your child's teachers will see it.

Refer to the SSD 7-12 Grade Attendance Guidelines

To learn more about reporting student absences through the Infinite Campus website, please click here for a brief introduction or here for a video. The Campus Parent (Infinite Campus app) is available both on the Apple and Google Play stores. If you need help with accessing Infinite Campus, please contact Iris Bohan at ibohan@shorewood.k12.wi.us for assistance.
