CME PTO Weekly

We can’t wait to kick off the new school year with all of you tomorrow night at our Cougar Kickoff Back To School Night event! Please come check in with us because the class with the highest attendance will win a pizza party! There will be bounce houses (including a wet one!), lawn games, basketball, the hamster ball, a DJ, Kona Ice and a photo booth! Also, Mr Novak will be there to check every child in and give them a FREE TICKET to a Colorado Rapids game!! Big thank you to all of the former CME students who are now high school volunteers who have signed up to help us - keep an eye out for a familiar face! See you there!

On Monday we welcomed our new kindergartners to Copper Mesa with a “signing” celebration. It was so sweet and these kiddos are going to have a great year! There were mostly “woohoos” from the parents, because we all know that our wonderful staff is going to take such good care of them. This is the largest kindergarten class that we’ve had in a while, and we can’t wait to watch them grow!

Are you interested in what the PTO does, or wanting to help out with the different events that we put on? We are completely volunteer run and we would LOVE your help! Please join us for an Open House at Spearwood Park, on September 1st, from 6:30-8:00 to find out what we need help with this year. We’ll have snacks!

This is our Fall Grants meeting. Teachers/Staff have two opportunities throughout the year to submit grant requests to the PTO. This includes anything from supplement curriculum, supplies for the classroom, field trips, tools for teachers/staff etc. We will be reviewing the grants submitted for the fall semester.

We (CME PTO) are able to provide funds for all these requests through our fundraisers!

We will also be going over the available volunteer opportunities as well as discussing our Fall Fundraiser, the Ninja Nation: Cougar Quest 2!

Prepare your calendars for our first Spirit Day of the year! McDonald’s is a very generous partner and gives back 20% of ALL SALES during our lunch period, whether you mention Copper Mesa or not, so send all your family and friends to the McDonald’s by the Highlands Ranch library on August 28th, between 11am-1pm, and help us kickoff our fundraising for the year!

One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year our total donation received is in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so, it’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.

If you walked through the halls of CME last year, you wouldn't be able to miss all of the incredible art work that your talented kiddos created during Art Class, displayed on the walls! Mrs Burke does some of the most fun projects, and she has some awesome new ideas up her sleeve for this year!

Last year we were able to clear out her wish list, which was AMAZING and so generous!! Those supplies are dwindling though, and could use a refresh. If you're looking for a way to help out this year, please feel free to check out her Amazon wish list and stock the art room back up for this year!

We have had an incredible response from our local businesses who want to sponsor our school this year, and we are so grateful! We will be placing our order for the school-wide t-shirt at the end of next week, so we need to have all logos from our Silver and Gold level sponsors by then, to ensure that they make it on the back of the shirt. Got a knack for party planning? Love reaching out to local businesses? Looking to get your hands dirty (We know for a fact there are some interested dads out there!)?

We are always looking for volunteers for Teacher/Staff Appreciation, our Daughter Event, our Son Event, School Beautification, our Spring Fundraiser, etc. If you would like to volunteer with PTO in any way, please let us know.

Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.

The purpose of the program:

1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
