PTO Meeting

The CAEMS PTO will be meeting on Tuesday, February 10 at 4pm in the media center. We'll be planning upcoming events and fundraisers. All parents and guardians are invited to attend to support the great things happening at CAEMS!

NC Check In Testing

NC Check-Ins will take place on Wednesday morning, with 7th graders taking a math assessment and 8th graders taking a science assessment. To help your child do their best, please encourage a good night’s sleep, a fully charged device, and a healthy breakfast, which is available for free at school each day.

These assessments give teachers valuable, standards-based insight that helps guide re-teaching and support, ensuring students stay on track for success on the End-of-Grade tests. Thank you for partnering with us and for supporting your student every step of the way!

Community Market

Join us Monday, February 9 from 4:50–6:00 PM for the Buncombe County Community Engagement Market! Free groceries will be available in the Erwin Middle School lobby for families, while supplies last. We look forward to seeing you there and supporting our Warrior community!

National School Counselor Week

National School Counselor Week may have been last week, but with all the weather disruptions, we didn’t get the chance to celebrate the way we should have. We want to take a moment to recognize and thank Stella Perrin and Lisa Alexander for the incredible care, compassion, and support they show our students and staff every single day.

They are often the steady presence behind the scenes — listening, encouraging, problem-solving, and helping our Warriors navigate challenges so they can be successful in and out of the classroom. Their impact reaches far beyond schedules and meetings; they help shape a school culture where students feel safe, valued, and understood.

When you see Ms. Alexander or Ms. Perrin this week, take a moment to give them a high five, write a quick note, or simply say thank you. Small gestures mean a lot, and they truly deserve to feel the appreciation for all they pour into our school community.

Love the Bus Week

Love the Bus Week is February 9–13! Join us in showing appreciation for the incredible drivers who safely get our students to and from school each day, rain or shine. They are often the first smile our students see in the morning and the last goodbye in the afternoon, and their care and commitment make a difference.

A simple high five, a kind word, or a quick note of thanks can go a long way in letting them know how much they are valued. Encourage your child to share their appreciation this week as we celebrate the important role our bus drivers play in supporting our school community.

Advanced Learning in High School

There will be a parent meeting focused on advanced and accelerated curriculum in high school next Friday, February 20 at 8:15AM in the Erwin Middle Media Center. 8th grade parents of students in AIG and/or Math 1 are invited to attend, as well as other advanced learners. Those students will bring home an information sheet with more details this week. If you have questions about this event, please reach out to Ms. Vaughn, AIG Specialist, at amy.vaughn@bcsemail.org.

After you’ve created your account, it may take a few days for your student’s schedule to populate, as schools finalize classes in the week ahead.
