An Update from Jason

Hello MHS,

As Kenny Loggin said it best in "This is it!" we have made it to the last week of school. Jerry and I were talking while waiting for graduation to start, and we both agreed that the year had passed! Thank you! Thank you, staff, teachers, food service, clean team- everyone! It has been a great year with accomplishments, ups and downs, celebrations, awards, recognition's, learning, disappointments, retirements, state championships, performances, field trips, exchange students, travel, and growth and reflection. Movement and flow are the ecosystems of the school, and we embrace it.

Here is what we received from a parent- "I wanted to send a note to say that we were blown away by graduation last night. I couldn't even count the number of people who said "this is why I love Montpelier," "This is why I am so glad my kids grew up in Montpelier," etc. MHS helped shaped my kid into the magical kid she is and we feel confident sending out into the world! Kudos on pulling off an exceptional night and thanks for making Montpelier High School such a fantastic experience for our kiddos."- Thank you MHS!

I know a school year is not all rainbows, unicorns, and butterflies, and we always will have work to do. But we can relish the positive outcomes we all worked towards, whether in the classroom, as a staff member, or with students.

Let's take time on Monday at Cafe Noa to thank one another, celebrate, and hopefully feel grateful that you all make a difference in our students' lives. Thank you for making a MHS a special place.

As we know, this week is going to be hot. Monday is our last "normal" scheduled day. I sent everyone a Google form to gather information on how we can best move some second-floor classes to the first floor, hopefully using spaces that are not in use. Please complete the form by 8:00 so we can finalize a new schedule and communicate it to all MHS and caregivers.

I sent a draft of the Tuesday and Wednesday schedule (in the Google form). I understand the times are shorter than a normal retake day, and we have to dismiss at the same time as the other schools. We also left as much unscheduled time for planning, grading, or ending the year.

We can use the current adaptive scheduler instead calling students back again, of starting over.

I look forward to connecting with you all this week and celebrating the end of the year.

Have a great last few days.

Best,

Jason

"Mastery requires lots of practice. But the more you practice something, the more boring and routine it becomes.

Thus, an essential component of mastery is the ability to maintain your enthusiasm. The master continues to find the fundamentals interesting."
