October 6 - October 10
Hi Mustang Families!
Last Friday, we were excited to launch our student store! Many of you have received messages recognizing positive behavior aligned with our 3R values. Each time a positive message is sent home, students earn a Mustang Minga point, which they can trade in for snacks, special privileges (like a front-of-the-line lunch pass), or fun items such as fidget spinners and pencils. If you’d like to learn more about their Minga incentive app, ask your student to show you on their Chromebook.
Last Tuesday night, we were honored to host the Oceanside Police Department and Dr. Martin Leyva for our Gang Awareness Community Forum. While we learned valuable insights about understanding gang culture from a place of empathy, Dr. Leyva’s message about love and connection was especially powerful. OPD and Dr. Leyva will continue these presentations at all VUSD middle and high schools, and I highly encourage everyone to attend. Even if your family hasn’t been personally affected by gang issues, Dr. Leyva’s message extends far beyond intervention—he shared meaningful ideas about maintaining strong, positive relationships with our children as we raise them in today’s world. The next forum will be held at Rancho Buena Vista High School on October 22 from 5:00–6:30 p.m. (see the flyer below for more information).
Lastly, I’d like to invite you to Dessert with the Principal this Thursday evening from 5:30–6:30 p.m. We’ll discuss new bike protocols and rules, the John Landes bus stop, school goals, and provide an open forum for questions, answers, and discussion. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend:
Thank you for reading, and as always, please let us know how we can help and support.
Have a great week!

Principal
