1st Grade News
October 14th- October 16th
Hello First Grade Families,
We hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, and restful fall break! We cannot believe it is already week 10 of school! The time is really flying by! Please continue reading/writing the blending lines and guided reading books with your child at home to reinforce their learning at home.
Reminder, first grade no longer uses ice cream permission slips. If you would like to regulate your child's purchasing at lunch, please go on MySchoolBucks to limit purchases of specific items. You can even make it so they can only purchase on certain days! Thank you so much! Lets make it a fantastic week.
Love,
First Grade Team💜

Attendance/Absences:
There is a change this year for doctor’s notes or other supporting documentation for an absence. They should now be submitted by completing the online Attendance Note Submission form and uploading the documentation within the form. Student's 8-digit ID numbers (900...) are required in order to complete the form, and may be found in Skyward Family Access. This process applies to both full-day and partial-day absences. Please note that a parent notification submitted through Skyward Family Access regarding a doctor's visit does not qualify as a doctor's note. If you have any questions, please reach out to our registrar at windsong-registrar@prosper-isd.net.

New Change of Dismissal Form
To help streamline our daily end-of-day procedures, we are transitioning all dismissal changes to a simple online form. You no longer need to call the front office and this keeps a paper trail of your request. Please note that our daily cutoff time remains the same: all changes must be submitted by 1:30 PM each day to ensure our staff can safely route every student to their proper location. To make updating your child's pick up quick and easy, please bookmark this link so you can access it whenever you need it!
Cafeteria Info:
Our food service team's commitment remains the same: serving safe, high-quality meals students enjoy. Learn more about our Child Nutrition department, put money on your child's MySchoolBucks account today, and bookmark the lunch menu calendar.
This year, Child Nutrition is updating menus to remove certain artificial dyes and additives while continuing our focus on simple, recognizable ingredients.
Yearbook Cover Contest
26-27 Yearbook Cover Contest!
This year our Yearbook Cover Contest will be open to all grade levels! We would like students to create a picture on 8 1/2 x 11 paper keeping the school wide theme "The Magical Yet" in mind. All entries are due by October 26th. Please include the student's name on the bottom of the entry along with their teacher's name and do not laminate. The winner will have their picture on the front cover, runner-up will be placed on the back cover, and all other entries will be displayed inside the yearbook.
Anti Victimization Guidance Lesson
We are starting our first grade guidance lessons covering Anti Victimization the month of October. Students will learn what to do when it comes to personal safety and safe/unsafe touch. Pursuant to state law, Prosper ISD requires parental consent for instruction on this lesson. This was part of the back to school forms you filled out during the enrollment process. All students without an opt in will not participate in the lesson.
Based on our Student Health Advisory Committee and Board Approval, we will be using Play it Safe for our first grade lesson. If you would like to preview the lesson prior to making a decision for your child to participate, please attend the first grade preview session on our campus:
First Grade Parent Preview is October 21st @ 8:00- WRE cafeteria
Lessons will take place during the week of Nov. 9-13
Please reach out to the campus counselor with questions.
