Reminders from the Attendance Office
As we begin the 2nd semester, here are a few reminders to help students finish the year strong:
- Check-Ins: Students must check in at the Attendance Office, not Tardy Stations. Parents/Guardians must come inside the building with proof of ID or send a note if unable to enter. Students are allowed five parent notes per semester.
- Checkouts: Parents/Guardians must come inside the building with proof of ID to check out students OR send in a note for checkout. This must be verified by the Attendance Office before school starts. No checkouts are allowed after 1:30 PM.
- Self-Checkouts: Only students registered as Self-Responsible can check themselves out. Being 18 years old does not automatically allow self-checkout; procedures must be followed.
- Excused Absences: Parents/Guardians must send a signed note with supporting documents for absences. Up to five handwritten notes are allowed per semester and must be submitted within five days of returning to school. *Exceptions: Medical notes or any circumstances that fall within the county guidelines. See the school website for more information.
- Tardies and Unexcused Check-ins: Parkview HS uses a progressive disciplinary approach when addressing excessive tardiness and unexcused check-ins.
- Important Information: No checkouts or excuse notes are accepted via phone or email. All notes must include the student's full name, student number, dates of absence, reason, parent name, phone number, and signature.
Parents are encouraged to visit the school website for detailed information on attendance policies and procedures.
End of Semester Information & 2nd Semester Schedules
1st Semester Report Cards/Transcripts
1st semester report cards/transcripts will be accessible to students and parents in StudentVue and ParentVue on January 10th. 1st semester report cards/transcripts will be printed and mailed from the GCPS district office to the student’s address in the student information system beginning January 10th.
2nd Semester Schedules
Students will be able to view their 2nd semester schedule through the student portal or the StudentVue app on January 5th. However, please understand that schedule changes are being made up until the first day of 2nd semester, January 6th, due to course failures and class leveling.
Some student schedules may shift due to the balancing of class sizes as well as faculty/staff changes. We guarantee students will have a total of six classes and an advisement, but we cannot guarantee that that the classes will be in the same period order or with the same teacher as first semester or that students will have the same lunch period.
Schedule Changes
The only changes being made to second semester schedules are for those students who have failed a class and cannot move to the 2nd semester course or for seniors who need a class to meet graduation requirements. Most of these changes have already been made. Schedule changes will NOT be made for the following reasons:
· Teacher or class period preference
· The student doesn’t like the elective and wants a different elective
· Level changes (AP to Honors, Honors to CP) because current level is impacting GPA
· GPA concerns
· The class is not needed for graduation
Students were advised during the registration process last Spring to choose wisely as their choices were yearlong choices and changes would not be made between semesters.
We hope everyone has a restful winter break and we look forward to student’s return to school on Monday, January 6th.

- Grants to staff for educational initiatives
- Reflections, a national, PTA full range arts competition
- Staff appreciation luncheon
- Support of Parkview’s Care Team
