APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
Following several months of review, discussion, and meetings with the district insurance committee, the Board approved a recommendation for employee health insurance for the upcoming plan year.
Dr. McClain shared that this year’s renewal process was particularly challenging due to rising healthcare costs and the district’s recent claims experience, which limited available options and competitiveness among carriers. Throughout the process, the district explored multiple plans, reviewed financial information, met with representatives, and worked closely with the insurance committee to identify the strongest overall option for employees and the district.
Based on that review, the committee recommended moving forward with Egyptian Trust for the 2026–2027 plan year. The recommendation was made after careful consideration of employee coverage, cost predictability, provider access, and overall value.
Dr. McClain also reviewed questions related to the Trust’s financial condition and met with Trust representatives to better understand recent improvements and long-term stability. While no option was without challenges this year, the district believes this recommendation provides the best overall balance of benefits and affordability at this time.
The district will remain within the BCBS provider network, helping maintain familiarity and continuity for employees. Because healthcare markets continue to shift, Dr. McClain noted that this recommendation is for one year and the district intends to revisit options again next year to ensure employees and taxpayers continue receiving the best value possible.
