Balloon Policy

In our continued effort to support all students, we do not allow balloons of any kind at school functions. This decision is necessary to ensure the safety of students with severe latex allergies. This policy includes all balloons. We appreciate your cooperation in creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

January Student of the Month

Throughout the year, the staff at HHS nominates and votes for students to be the Student of the Month. The Hopkinton High School January Student of the Month winner is 9th grader Eabha O'Callaghan.

Here are some of the things the staff had to say about Eabha:

- Eabha has already made such an impact on HHS and is only a 9th grader. She is a part of our Best Buddies club and Unified Strength & Conditioning club, and has been such a fantastic mentor. She is so kind and patient with our students with intellectual disabilities, and clearly takes pride in her partnership with them. She has a special bond with one of our students who typically resists exercise, but works out with ease and excitement with Eabha by her side. She has impressed our staff so much. Outside of her mentorship role, she is known as a kind, funny, and diligent student amongst her teachers, and has had a very successful first semester here. We are so fortunate to have Eabha with us for so much longer, and I'm sure we haven't even seen a fraction of the impact she will have on HHS.

- Eabha is an exceptional student. Her kindness and compassion extends well beyond the typical high school student. Her dedication to our special needs students is remarkable. She eats lunch with us every time she has first lunch, and encourages her friends to spend time with our kids. Through Eabha, our students have made so many connections with the general education student body. Connections that they likely wouldn’t have made before. Eabha is a highly discussed person in our classroom. Students like Eabha make HHS a truly unified and inclusive space. I adore her!!!

- Eabha is a stand-out student!

- Eabha has shown great improvement in our class, participating, asking questions, and showing genuine curiosity for the material. Good job, Eabha!

- Eabha is a kind, thoughtful and highly responsible member of the HHS community. She brings a great attitude, excellent work ethic and genuine kindness to her classes each day. I was so lucky to have her in my class this fall.

A big congrats to Eabha on winning this award! And thank you to ReMax and the HPTO for sponsoring this award.

Senior Parent Celebration Photos

Class of 2025 parents... it's time to start reminiscing and scrolling through pictures of your soon-to-be 2025 graduate. Save some of your favorites to a folder on your phone, iPad or computer so you can access them easily.

Starting March 1st, the Class of 2025 website will have a link where you can access a google form to complete and upload your photos for the Senior Slideshow which will run during the SENIOR PARENT CELEBRATION AT GILLETTE on May 28. The deadline to upload pictures is April 8. We will be looking for 4 photos per student: one baby/toddler, one from the elementary years, one senior portrait, and one group shot.

We have over 300 students in the class. With 4 photos per student, that is 1200 photos that we Slideshow Ninjas need to collect, organize, potentially edit and thoughtfully assemble for the slideshow. We will need all the time we can get. So, the sooner you submit, the easier you will make life for us!

Our goal is to collect photos from all Class of 2025 students, whether they’re attending the Gillette event or not. A link to the completed slideshow will be shared with all Class of 2025 families.

All the information will be in the google form come March 1st. But if you have questions, please reach out to your Slideshow Ninjas hhs2025pix@gmail.com.

Seal of Biliteracy

Dear Junior & Senior Students and Parents/Guardians:

We are pleased to announce that, once again, Hopkinton High School will be offering language assessments to students to determine eligibility for the Seal of Biliteracy. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in language study, granting students highly deserved recognition for demonstrating proficiency (writing, speaking, and reading comprehension) in at least two languages. Students are eligible to earn the Seal if they are a junior or senior and have been studying a world language since middle school, or if they are a native or heritage speaker of a language other than English. In order to be eligible for the Seal of Biliteracy, students will be tested using DESE-authorized Seal of Biliteracy assessments. There is no cost to juniors or seniors for these optional exams.

All students who demonstrate scores of “intermediate high” or above in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the language tested and have a Grade 10 MCAS score in English Language Arts of 472 or above, will be eligible for The Seal. Students who score “advanced low” or above in the language tested, and have a score of 501 or above on the Grade 10 English Language Arts MCAS will be eligible for the Seal with Distinction.

In order to accommodate the large number of students testing, testing dates will be separated by language. Students testing in Spanish will be taking the exams for the Seal of Biliteracy in school on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, and Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Students testing in French, Chinese and all other languages, will be taking the exams for Seal of Biliteracy in school on Thursday, March 20, 2025 and Friday, March 21, 2025. A make-up date for all languages is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Students will test in the morning on these days and return to class once they have completed the specific components given on those days. Seniors who took a Seal of Biliteracy exam last year, wanting to retake certain components of the exam, can do that as well on the dates specific to the language in which they are testing.

Students interested in taking an exam for the Seal of Biliteracy should plan to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, during FLEX block in the auditorium. During this meeting, students will receive additional information about these exams and have the opportunity to sign up for the actual exam. If you are interested in taking an entire exam or at least one component for the Seal of Biliteracy, please use this link to express your interest in taking the exam and to sign up to attend the informational meeting. Note that this link does not sign a student up for any exam.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Evan Bishop, Principal

Hopkinton Youth Soccer

Hopkinton Youth Soccer is offering the opportunity to play on a high school soccer team in the BAYS Travel League this spring.

The Spring 2025 season will run from 4/27- 6/15 with games on Sunday afternoons (excluding Memorial Day weekend). There will be a total of 7 games with 3 or 4 being at home in Hopkinton on either the Fruit Street or High School turf fields and 3 or 4 away games. There will be one weeknight practice on a night to be determined. Practices will start the week of April 14th.

BAYS offers Grade 10 and Grade 12 brackets for High School Division 1 and 2 teams as well as combined Grade 9-12 teams for Division 3 Recreational play. We will determine what program the team is registered for based on the number of players that show interest and the skill level of the players.

Registration will open this Wednesday 2/5/2025. All players will be automatically put on a waitlist until we determine if we have enough players to form a team. Once we reach a certain number, we will release players from the waitlist and families can complete checkout.

To register, click on this LINK and sign in to your family account. Next, scroll down to your HS player's name and click the 'Register' button next to 'Spring 2025 Travel Program (3rd-8th+HS)'. Select your player's grade and 'Continue Registration'. Click on the circle next to the High School Program option and register to volunteer if you are interested.
